Job Overview

  • We’re seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive Macy’s Media Network
  • (MMN) Accountant I to join our finance team. This position ensures the timely
  • and accurate accounting and reporting of MMN income, receivables, and invoices
  • across all divisions. In this role, you will support accounting for MMN vendors
  • by managing vendor agreements, balancing campaigns and receivables, resolving
  • payment issues, and ensuring amounts are collected accurately and on time. You
  • will also provide insights to support forecasting and analysis of the Balance
  • Sheet and P&L, while partnering closely with internal teams and vendors to
  • promote smooth operations and accurate financial reporting. Additional
  • responsibilities include completing account reconciliations, supporting the
  • month-end close, fulfilling audit requests, addressing payment discrepancies and
  • delinquencies, and contributing to team projects, system testing, process
  • monitoring, financial plans, ROFs, and company-wide strategic initiatives. This
  • position is based in Cincinnati, OH.

What You Will Do

  • Prepare and process invoices for Macy’s Media Network and ensure invoices are

issued accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Manage the Accounts Receivable collection process, including monitoring
  • aging, following up with vendors and merchant teams on past-due balances,
  • resolving payment issues, and escalating delinquent accounts as appropriate.
  • Perform account reconciliations, research variances and discrepancies, and

ensure account balances are accurate and properly supported.

  • Complete monthly financial closing activities, including preparation and

posting of GL entries and analysis of account balances.

  • Collaborate with Macy’s Media Network billing operations to resolve billing

issues and discrepancies that may delay payment.

  • Investigate and resolve vendor inquiries, payment discrepancies, and disputes

related to Advertising co-op and Macy’s Media Network invoices.

  • Fulfill internal and external audit requirements, including SOX monitoring

and providing supporting documentation as requested.

  • Produce monthly and seasonal performance reports and other ad hoc analyses.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of invoices, payments, reconciliations,

collection activity, and outstanding balances.

Skills You Will Need

  • Leadership and Team Management: Capability to supervise direct reports, review
  • their work, and oversee their career development.
  • Financial Analysis and SQL Proficiency: Ability to generate financial analyses,
  • develop and execute SQL programs to extract data, maintain programs, and
  • implement changes as processes evolve.
  • Analytical Review and System Enhancement: Proficiency in conducting analytical
  • reviews, testing, and implementing system enhancements, as well as assisting in
  • developing methodologies and supporting training activities.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • including the ability to communicate clearly in meetings with colleagues both
  • within and outside the Gross Margin Department.
  • Mathematical Aptitude: Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to
  • apply concepts of profitability, statistical inference, algebra, and geometry to
  • practical situations, as well as calculating interest, discounts, fractions,
  • percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Excel Proficiency and Database Knowledge: Proficiency in Excel is required, and
  • knowledge of database queries and SQL is strongly preferred.
  • Organization and Attention to Detail: Highly organized and detail-oriented, with
  • a focus on maintaining accuracy in all tasks.

  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a
  • related field are encouraged to apply. 1-3 years of related experience is
  • preferred.
