You will analyze financial performance, identify trends and opportunities, support executive decision-making, and provide financial guidance that helps the organization improve revenue, manage costs, strengthen operations, and plan for the future.

Our Blood Institute is seeking an experienced accounting and finance professional to serve as a key resource for accounting policy implementation, financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and organizational planning.

This role combines technical accounting expertise with financial planning and analysis (FP&A). You will analyze financial performance, identify trends and opportunities, support executive decision-making, and provide financial guidance that helps the organization improve revenue, manage costs, strengthen operations, and plan for the future.

The ideal candidate is a strategic financial leader who can move comfortably between detailed accounting analysis and high-level executive discussions that has a CPA (this is required).

Location: Oklahoma City, OK

Pay: Competitive salary to begin at $85,000 or based on education and/or experience with a $500 bonus after 6 months and $1,000 bonus after 1 year!

Position Objective

Serve as a key resource for accounting policy implementation, financial analysis, annual planning, forecasting, and quarterly variance analysis.

  • The position requires strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting standards, including:
  • ASC 606 - Revenue Recognition
  • ASC 842 - Lease Accounting
  • CECL

Other accounting standards applicable to the organization

The position will analyze financial statements, general ledger activity, operating results, productivity, manufacturing costs, and yields to identify trends, risks, cost-saving opportunities, and opportunities to improve revenue and organizational performance.

You will translate complex financial information into clear, actionable recommendations for executives and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead the annual financial planning and budgeting process.
  • Prepare monthly and annual forecasts and analyze actual results against forecast and plan.

Manage monthly and quarterly budget variance processes using financial planning and budgeting software.

Prepare and upload budgets for review and document significant revenue and expense variances.

Develop financial models using benchmarking, historical performance, operational data, and process analysis.

Establish and monitor key performance metrics, identify trends and gaps, and facilitate corrective actions.

Analyze productivity, manufacturing costs, yields, and other operational drivers to provide actionable insights to the CFO and Corporate Controller.

Identify cost-saving opportunities, communicate recommendations to executive leadership, and track progress toward planned reductions.

Prepare monthly profitability reports and other financial and operational analyses.

Financial Reporting & Executive Support

Prepare and interpret financial and statistical reports, charts, and executive-level financial summaries.

Analyze financial results and forecasts and provide clear business and financial recommendations to leadership.

Prepare monthly financial statements, including

  • Comparative balance sheets
  • Revenue and expense statements
  • Statements of cash flow
  • Departmental expense statements

Financial and operational schedules

  • Present financial information at executive and leadership meetings.
  • Prepare financial reports for related-organization boards of directors.

Develop annual operating budgets and support board-level financial planning and investment manager relationships.

Monitor current and historical financial performance to help leadership understand future financial implications.

Technical Accounting & Compliance

Support the implementation of new accounting standards in coordination with external auditors and finance staff.

Research, interpret, and apply accounting standards and GAAP to organizational transactions and financial reporting.

Prepare financial information and audit schedules related to ASC 606, ASC 842, CECL, and other applicable accounting standards.

Review accounting transactions and identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls.

Analyze general ledger accounts and determine appropriate accounting treatment and journal entries.

Investigate discrepancies and determine appropriate corrective actions.

Prepare financial statements and IRS Form 990s for related organizations while ensuring compliance with applicable requirements.

Assist with the annual financial audit, including audit work papers, adjusting entries, supporting schedules, and financial records.

Coordinate year-end audit activities with the Controller, CFO, external auditors, and finance team.

Organizational Leadership & Collaboration

Partner with department leaders and directors to develop financial analyses and identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

  • Provide financial guidance and recommendations to support organizational decision-making.
  • Serve as a key financial resource for departments across the organization.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of financial information and investment decisions.

Serve as a backup resource to the Corporate Controller and CFO on critical organizational responsibilities, including during extended absences.

Serve as a backup signatory for checks, wire transfers, and payroll-related payments.

Oversee end-user administration for budgeting and finance systems, ensuring appropriate security and access levels are maintained.

What You'll Bring

Required Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor's and Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Active CPA license required.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience.

Required Knowledge & Experience

Extensive knowledge of accounting methods used to maintain and analyze all classes of accounts within a computerized double-entry accrual accounting environment.

Strong understanding and application of GAAP.

Experience with technical accounting standards affecting the organization, including ASC 606, ASC 842, and CECL.

  • Experience preparing tax returns, including IRS Form 990.
  • Experience with automated financial planning and analysis software.
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and variance-analysis skills.
  • Experience preparing financial statements and supporting external audits.

Ability to trace transactions from initial entry through final disposition and determine the appropriate accounting treatment.

  • Ability to prepare and review journal entries and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Advanced spreadsheet and financial analysis skills.
