Cost Accountant
Lubbock, Texas (On-Site) | Full-Time | Accounting
Position Overview
Brandon & Clark, Inc. is seeking a Cost Accountant to support the full accounting cycle, drive accurate and timely month-end close, and strengthen accounts payable and reconciliation processes as the company scales its financial infrastructure. This role reports to the Executive Director of Finance and works closely with the broader finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- General Accounting & Close
- Perform accrual-based accounting in accordance with GAAP.
- Own assigned portions of the month-end close process, meeting established deadlines.
- Support journal entries, accruals, and general ledger maintenance across the full accounting cycle.
- Manage accounts payable, including purchase order matching and invoice processing.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with audit preparation and supporting documentation as needed.
Cost Accounting & Budgeting
- Track direct materials, labor, and facility overhead to identify inefficiencies.
- Forecast fixed and variable expenses to build operational budgets.
- Perform variance analysis, comparing budgeted expectations against actual financial outcomes.
- Support pricing strategy by helping leadership determine profitable selling prices for products and services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting principles.
- Advanced Excel and ERP software proficiency, with strong data analytics and cross-functional communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience managing month-end close under deadline pressure.
- Hands-on accounts payable experience, including purchase order matching and invoice processing.
- Proven account reconciliation skills.
- Recent experience submitting invoices through customer portals such as Ariba, OpenTicket/OpenInvoice, or similar platforms.
Preferred
- Experience in a services or field-operations industry.
- Familiarity with multi-location or multi-entity accounting.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer workstation.
- Manual dexterity for keyboard use and operation of standard office equipment.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move items up to 15 pounds.
Work Environment
- On-site office environment at the Lubbock, Texas location.
- Standard business hours, with additional hours as needed during month-end close and audit periods.
