This position will support day-to-day accounting operations while playing an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month-end close process, and helping ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Phothera is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our growing accounting team in Bryan, Ohio. This position will support day-to-day accounting operations while playing an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month-end close process, and helping ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
This is a hands-on opportunity for an accounting professional who has developed a solid foundation in accounting principles and is looking to continue expanding their experience. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across multiple areas of accounting, partnering with other departments, solving problems, and taking on additional responsibilities as the organization continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day accounting activities with an initial emphasis on accounts payable, including invoice processing, coding, approvals, vendor-related activities, and payment processing.
- Maintain accurate accounting records by compiling, reviewing, and analyzing financial transactions and account activity.
- Prepare and post journal entries and assist with general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare and complete account and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities.
- Assist with the preparation and review of financial statements, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
- Review financial information for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies, including working with internal departments and vendors when necessary.
- Coordinate accounting matters with other departments and build effective working relationships across the organization.
- Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting documentation as needed.
- Help maintain and improve accounting procedures, documentation, and internal processes.
- Provide support across additional accounting functions as business needs arise.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Approximately 2–4 years of accounting experience preferred. Candidates with less experience may be considered if they have meaningful accounting internship or other relevant hands-on experience. Pasted text
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and fundamental accounting concepts.
- Experience with accounts payable and/or transactional accounting processes preferred.
- Exposure to general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close preferred.
- Experience working within an ERP or accounting system preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies and follow issues through resolution.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, growing environment where responsibilities may extend across multiple areas of accounting.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues across departments.
