Overview

The Global Business Solutions Center (GBSC) is a shared services organization within Mastercard whose mission is to add value to our partners and serve our customers by delivering operational excellence, enhanced customer experiences, and focused business results.

The Senior Accountant will be a key contributor within Mastercard's global controllership organization, supporting treasury accounting, foreign exchange accounting, and related financial reporting activities. This position will partner closely with Treasury, Corporate Accounting, Technical Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Systems, and regional finance teams to help ensure accurate and timely accounting for cash, investments, foreign currency exposures, and treasury-related transactions across Mastercard's global operations.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on treasury and foreign exchange accounting experience, sound technical accounting knowledge, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to operational excellence. This role includes ownership of assigned close activities, account reconciliations, financial analysis, audit support, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives.

Role

Perform treasury and foreign exchange accounting activities in accordance with US GAAP, IFRS, and company accounting policies.

Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities related to cash, investments, foreign currency transactions, intercompany funding, and other treasury-related accounts.

Prepare and review journal entries involving foreign currency remeasurement, translation adjustments, intercompany settlements, cash activity, investments, and other treasury transactions.

Prepare general ledger account reconciliations; research and resolve reconciling items, significant fluctuations, and foreign exchange-related variances.

Analyze foreign currency impacts and provide clear insights regarding foreign exchange gains and losses and other treasury-related financial results.

Support accounting and reporting for cash, cash equivalents, investments, restricted cash, bank fees, intercompany funding, and other treasury-related balances.

Partner with Treasury and Technical Accounting to assess the accounting implications of foreign exchange exposures, investments, financing arrangements, and other treasury-related transactions.

Prepare treasury and foreign exchange-related disclosures, footnotes, roll-forward schedules, and supporting documentation for internal and external reporting requirements.

Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and maintaining complete and accurate documentation.

Maintain effective internal controls, identify process risks, and support timely remediation of control or accounting issues.

Collaborate with Treasury, Financial Systems, and technology teams to improve banking integrations, reporting capabilities, and treasury accounting processes.

Identify and implement opportunities for standardization, automation, efficiency, scalability, and control enhancement.

Support treasury accounting initiatives and system enhancements by tracking assigned milestones and deliverables and coordinating with stakeholders.

Build productive relationships across Treasury, Finance, Accounting, and regional teams while managing competing priorities and meeting close deadlines.

All About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA preferred, but not required.

3 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience, with meaningful exposure to treasury accounting, foreign currency accounting, controllership, financial reporting, or corporate accounting.

Working knowledge of foreign currency accounting, treasury accounting, financial instruments, and related US GAAP and IFRS guidance.

Hands-on experience with foreign currency transactions, remeasurement activities, translation adjustments, and multinational accounting environments.

Experience supporting accounting and reporting for cash management, investments, intercompany funding, and treasury-related transactions.

Experience preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, analyzing variances, and supporting monthly or quarterly close activities.

Experience supporting audit requirements and operating within an internal control framework.

Experience with ERP systems, treasury management systems, or financial reporting tools; Oracle EBS / Oracle Fusion, REVAL, SAP, AtlasFX, Bloomberg, or similar platforms is preferred.

Ability to interpret accounting guidance and apply technical accounting principles to treasury and foreign exchange matters.

Demonstrated ability to identify process improvements and automation opportunities that enhance efficiency and control.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.

Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional and global stakeholders.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
