Description
Lalor Family Dental is a growing, multi-office dental practice in the Greater Binghamton area bringing over 60 years of experience in the dental field. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our finance team full-time.
This position offers exposure to a wide range of accounting responsibilities, giving you the foundation and visibility needed to progress into a future Accounting Lead role. We’re committed to developing our people—and this role is designed for someone who wants to grow with us.
Key Responsibilities
Performing month-end and year-end closing procedures entering financial data and transactions into the general ledgers of multiple entities that make up the Lalor Family of companies
Providing final review and approval of company credit card charges ensuring proper documentation and coding to the general ledger of multiple entities
Reviewing financial documents for accuracy and reconciling accounts
Reconciling inter-company liabilities
Maintaining fixed asset records and recording monthly depreciation and amortization
Compiling multiple consolidating financial statements
Analyzing financial results, investigating budget variances, material changes, discrepancies and unusual activity
Assisting in preparing annual budgets
Assisting in maintaining and updating financial forecasts and cash flow projections
Collaborating with other departments to complete accurate records and provide accounting support
- Assisting in the preparing of annual tax documents and supporting schedules
- Cross training in bookkeeping functions to provide support and coverage as needed
- Supporting the Controller and other financial professionals in their duties as needed
Skills
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles for various types of entities
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Strong analytical skills
Ability to manage confidential financial data with strict adherence to compliance standards.
Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage recurring deadlines and prioritize multiple responsiblities
- Effective problem-solving skills to identify and correct financial discrepancies
- Written and verbal communication skills to share accounting information when needed
Ability to work on a team and independently
Proficient with Quickbooks, Microsoft Excel and most Microsoft products
Education
Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA or equivalent preferred
Experience
2 or more years of general ledger accounting
Payroll experience a plus
Annual Salary: $50,000 - $70,000 -- depending on experience and education
