Overview
Nakupuna Companies is looking for an entry level Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant is responsible for working with the Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager to help maintain a sound accounting system, to include preparation of basic accounting reconciliations, Accounts Payable entries, billing creation, and timesheet processing.
Responsibilities
The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign additional duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.
Determines operational objectives by studying business functions, collecting and evaluating information, and assessing potential solutions
Prepares basic journal entries and account reconciliations and submits to Accounting Manager for review
Assists the Finance & Accounting team with transactional functions as necessary, including, but not limited to:
- Accounts Payable voucher entry and employee expense reports
- Billing invoice processing, including Internal Work Orders (IWO)
Assists Senior Accountant in new employee setup and related data maintenance, including paid time off accruals, labor posting, etc
Recommends controls by identifying problems and developing improved procedures
Creates and maintains job aides for various Finance & Accounting functions that can be used for training of future team members
Maintains user confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
Prepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Inputs transactional activity for Joint Ventures in QuickBooks
- Complete ad hoc/other requests as necessary
Qualifications
Skills/Qualifications: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on Word, Excel, Outlook, and on-line search engines required. Must be self-motivated, efficient at multi-tasking and possess exceptional oral and written communication skills. Familiarity with Government Contracting, Deltek Costpoint, and Intuit QuickBooks is preferred. Must be a U.S. citizen.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or similar discipline from an accredited institution required.
- 1-2 years working experience in an accounting environment is preferred.
- Experience in or work for the U.S. military is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
- Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
