Position Summary

  • The Project Accountant plays an active role in the financial close process,
  • supporting both revenue and cost functions. Responsibilities include a mix of
  • transactional processing, reporting, reconciliation, and review, with
  • opportunities for financial analysis. The position will require a willingness to
  • learn. It will also require the ability to succeed in a team environment, a
  • propensity to meet strict deadlines, and a solid work ethic. Additionally, the
  • ability to communicate effectively with various levels of the organization is
  • necessary. The position would be a good fit for someone with strong processing
  • experience looking to broaden their skill set and gain experience in analysis.
  • You will report to the Director of Project Accounting working with the Project
  • Accounting team. You will work on site in Mount Airy, NC.

Essential Functions

  • Project Accounting including:
  • Maintain cost rates
  • Perform weekly burden costing and allocations
  • Field operations' requests for financial adjustments and information
  • Field external audit requests
  • Participate in the financial close process:
  • Book standard cost entries
  • Process revenue accruals
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Reconcile to general ledger accounts
  • Other responsibilities and tasks as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with MS Excel intermediate functions (Pivot, functions, lookups)
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills; customer service orientation
