Under limited supervision, the Accountant 2 provides support to more experienced personnel by performing accounting assignments, moderately difficult to complex in nature, requiring a broad knowledge of accounting theory and principles.

What You Can Expect

  • Provides support including forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing variations from budget.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining accounting policies and fiscal controls and preparing financial reports.
  • Assists with the organization’s budgeting and financial reporting process for the purpose of improving financial performance and efficiency.
  • Assists department leaders on variances from budget/actual.
  • Provides functional and technical direction to other staff members.
  • Provides technical support to outside auditors and governmental program auditors, as requested.
  • Supports and helps lead the build-out and implementation of new financial systems and processes.
  • Process daily transactions for member accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely posting.
  • Assist with month end journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepares work papers and reports for annual financial statement audit, as requested.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless financial operations and reporting.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors or equivalent experience in lieu of
  • Experience: 4 years relevant experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: None

Preferred Qualifications

  • Health insurance/insurance industry experience
  • Medicare Advantage experience
  • Public Accounting experience
  • CPA
