Staff Accountant
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant supports the finance and accounting functions within the company by ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining proper accounting controls, and assisting with day‑to‑day accounting operations. This role works closely with the Finance Director, manufacturing operations, and cross‑functional teams to ensure timely and accurate financial data that supports business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounts receivable functions, including customer billing, cash application, account reconciliations, collections, credit management, and resolution of payment discrepancies.
- Manage accounts payable functions, including invoice processing, vendor reconciliations, payment preparation and execution, and resolution of vendor inquiries and discrepancies.
- Maintain and review AR and AP aging schedules, identify past due or unusual balances, and drive resolution with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Manage cash receipts and disbursements, including accurate recording and reconciliation of transactions.
- Monitor daily cash activity and bank balances and support short-term cash forecasting and working capital management.
- Perform daily accounting activities, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of schedules, reports, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare and maintain financial reports to support internal management, cash flow visibility, and audit requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation and addressing inquiries.
- Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve accounting processes and systems for greater accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, GAAP standards, and applicable regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, with AR, AP, and cash management required.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Proficiency with accounting software; ERP system experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build effective relationships with customers and vendors.
Work Environment
- Office-based role within a manufacturing environment; regular collaboration with production, operations, and supply chain teams.
- Occasional visits to the production floor may be required to support inventory and cost accounting activities.
