Position Summary

The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing key accounting and financial reporting activities for Bayview Asset Management ("BAM") and its affiliated subsidiaries. This role will play an integral part in the monthly and annual close process, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and regulatory and audit support. The ideal candidate is a highly analytical, detail-oriented accounting professional who can manage multiple priorities, drive process improvements, and partner effectively with stakeholders across the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead and participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for multiple legal entities

Prepare and review complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.

Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigate variances, and provide clear explanations of financial results and trends.

Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages and management reports.

Perform detailed cash accounting activities, including recording and reconciling daily cash transactions and intercompany activity.

Coordinate with FP&A, Treasury, Operations, Legal, Tax, and other business partners to obtain support for accounting transactions and resolve accounting issues.

Support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and assisting with annual financial statement audits.

Research and document accounting conclusions related to new transactions, accounting guidance, and operational initiatives.

Monitor financial data for completeness and accuracy, identify anomalies or risks, and recommend corrective actions as appropriate.

Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, automate manual processes, and enhance reporting capabilities.

Assist with special projects, business initiatives, and ad hoc reporting requests from senior management.

Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff, as applicable.

Required Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accounting principles, and financial reporting requirements.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis techniques.

Experience working within Oracle and/or other enterprise ERP and general ledger systems.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to interpret financial information and identify key drivers of results.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate financial information to both finance and non-finance audiences.

Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.

Demonstrated experience improving processes, strengthening controls, and driving operational efficiency.

Ability to interact confidently with senior management and external stakeholders.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA designation and/or Master's degree in Accounting preferred.

Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within asset management, financial services, investment partnerships, or public accounting.

Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit support required.

Location

This is an onsite position (3-4 days) in our Coral Gables, FL office. We have existing team members in this location.
