Job Description

Position Summary: The Senior Treasury & Cash Operations Accountant plays a key role on the Cash Management team, driving process simplification, efficiency, and scalability across high-volume cash operations. This role reports to the Treasury Manager and works closely with the cash management team to bridge complex cash accounting and core treasury functions. The ideal candidate brings strong foundational accounting or banking experience, an analytical mindset, and a continuous-improvement focus to streamline workflows, optimize liquidity systems, and assist with debt compliance and bank reporting.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS

70% - Cash Management Operations & Process Optimization

Process simplification & Scalability (25%): Evaluate, document, and modernize existing daily cash management workflows to reduce manual tasks, build scalable processes, and optimize bank/TMS integration. Build and enhance working templates in Excel and Google Sheets.

Complex Bank Reconciliations & Cash Operations (20%): Lead and support complex multi-entity bank reconciliations covering high-volume retail transactions, including Wires, batch ACH settlements, and physical checks.

Liquidity & Short-Term Cash Positioning (15%): Oversee daily cash positioning across accounts, monitor target balance requirements, and refine short-term operational cash flow forecasting models.

Unclaimed Property & Disbursements Support (10%): Manage and streamline unclaimed property reporting and compliance.

30% - Core Treasury, Debt Compliance & Fee Optimization

Debt Compliance & Credit Facility Management (15%): Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual debt compliance certificates, calculate leverage/coverage ratios, and compile monthly Borrowing Base Certificates (BBC) for the ABL credit facility.

Bank & Merchant Fee Optimization (10%): Audit monthly and quarterly bank and analysis statements and merchant processor fees. Benchmark costs, track fee anomalies, and identify cost-reduction opportunities.

Month-End Close & Treasury Accounting (5%): Prepare and review month-end journal entries for bank fees and debt facility schedules. As needed, assist with bank account administration, KYC refreshes, and annual audit confirmations.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Educational/Experience Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics is preferred

Experience: 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in corporate accounting, cash management/treasury, or public accounting. Prior experience in banking, liquidity management, or high-volume enterprise retail environments is a strong plus.

Certifications: Post-graduate or MBA a strong preference

Technical Skills/Knowledge

Excel & Google Sheets Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets, including lookups, logical functions, and template design/streamlining.

Treasury & ERP Systems: Hands-on experience with ERP systems and Treasury Management Systems (TMS); direct experience with Kyriba or a similar TMS is a strong plus.

Banking & Merchant Platforms: Direct experience with online banking portals (wire/ACH origination, reporting) and familiarity with merchant processing settlement platforms.

General Knowledge and Abilities

Analytical & Skeptical Mindset: Regularly asks the “why” behind workflows to isolate inefficiencies, redundancies, resolve reconciliation anomalies, and reduce costs.

Collaboration & Leadership: Strong cross-functional partner who can collaborate with the Cash Management Supervisor and the Treasury Manager.

Physical Requirements

Physical Requirements: Desk position, regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and operate computer equipment. Lifting required up to 20 lbs.
