Position Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting and financial tasks to support the organization’s month-end close, financial reporting, and compliance requirements. This position plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data through account reconciliations, journal entries, and process improvements. The ideal candidate has at least three years of accounting experience, a strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances or discrepancies.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals and prepaid expenses.
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP standards, and internal controls.
  • Participate in audits by preparing required documentation and responding to auditor requests.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial accuracy and data integrity.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and help streamline accounting operations.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting efforts through financial data analysis.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Technical Skills:

o Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or similar).

o Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger principles.

  • Soft Skills:
  • o Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • o Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • o Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, or professional services industries.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment with standard business hours. Occasional overtime may be required during month-end or audit cycles.
