Position Summary
The Senior Accountant plays a key role in the monthly close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, audit support, and continuous improvement of accounting processes. This position ensures the integrity of financial information while supporting operational efficiency and compliance across the organization. The Senior Accountant serves as a resource for general accounting activities and works closely with Finance leadership to support accurate and timely financial reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- General Accounting
- Lead and support month-end and year-end close activities.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger.
- Analyze account activity and investigate variances.
- Maintain accounting records in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
- Support intercompany accounting and allocations.
- Assist in maintaining accounting procedures and internal controls.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare monthly account analyses and variance explanations.
- Assist with monthly financial statements and management reporting.
- Provide financial and operational analysis to management.
- Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
Transactions and Reconciliations
- Maintain fixed asset and lease accounting schedules.
- Record depreciation, amortization, accruals, and other recurring entries.
- Review payroll-related accounting and employee expense transactions.
- Prepare and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts.
- Support rebate, allocation, and intercompany accounting processes.
Compliance & Audit
- Assist with annual audits and preparation of supporting schedules.
- Support tax, licensing, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of company, financial, and patient information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
Leadership & Process Improvement
- Serve as a resource to accounting team members.
- Help improve accounting processes, close procedures, and internal controls.
- Assist with implementation and optimization of accounting systems.
- Support Finance leadership with strategic and operational initiatives.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 2+ years of accounting experience required.
- Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Experience with multi-entity organizations with intercompany accounting is a plus.
- Experience with ERP or accounting software required.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.
- Ability to work in an office environment and use standard office equipment.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time and work at a computer.
