As a Staff Accountant, you will support accurate, timely financial reporting for PLP-USA and Corporate operations. You will perform a broad range of accounting activities across the general ledger, fixed assets, intercompany accounting, accounts payable, payroll, treasury support, and indirect taxes. You will also contribute to process improvements, system implementations, acquisition integration, and other cross-functional finance initiatives.

As a Staff Accountant, you will support accurate, timely financial reporting for PLP-USA and Corporate operations. You will perform a broad range of accounting activities across the general ledger, fixed assets, intercompany accounting, accounts payable, payroll, treasury support, and indirect taxes. You will also contribute to process improvements, system implementations, acquisition integration, and other cross-functional finance initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility for the recording of all fixed asset acquisitions and divestitures, maintaining the fixed asset subledger, and ensuring fixed asset projects are created and monitored appropriately. Ensure compliance with the corporate tooling policy. Maintain capital expenditure requests and ensure appropriate corporate approvals.
- Prepare monthly intercompany accounts payable and accounts receivable entries, including voucher uploads, invoice distribution and coding, and resolution of intercompany differences.
- Prepare and analyze accruals, including goods received but not invoiced, freight, payroll, vacation, taxes, and benefits.
- Assist the accounts payable supervisor to ensure all accounts are paid timely, and invoices are matched to purchase orders.
- Review daily account activity, prepare and post journal entries, and investigate unusual or incomplete transactions.
- Support the monthly close for PLP-USA and Corporate operations, including close-status monitoring, account analysis, and analysis of internal financial statements.
- Prepare timely, well-supported account reconciliations and help monitor completion of reconciliations across the department, including, but not limited to, cash, PPE, other current and non-current assets, and liabilities.
- Partner with plant management and other business stakeholders to obtain information, resolve accounting matters, and provide financial analysis.
- Assist with freight, customs, and duty-related reporting and analysis.
- Assist with general ledger integration activities for newly acquired businesses, as needed.
- Participate in finance ERP system upgrades and implementations, including testing, issue resolution, documentation, and process improvement.
- Assist the Tax Manager with tracking, maintenance, filing support, and reconciliation for state and local sales and use taxes and other indirect tax matters.
- Compile information and respond to requests in support of indirect tax audits.
- Provide secondary support for ACH and positive-pay file transmission, wire-payment setup and execution, check-copy and status requests, and follow-up on voided payments.
- Perform special projects, ad hoc analysis, and other accounting duties as assigned.
- Maintain clear supporting documentation and follow established accounting policies, internal controls, and approval requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and consistency of accounting processes.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Three to seven years of general accounting experience. Manufacturing experience is preferred.
- CPA designation is a plus, but is not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, including look-up functions and PivotTables. Strong proficiency with financial ERP applications is required.
- Prior experience with journal entries, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial close, and financial systems is preferred.
- Accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to produce complete, well-supported accounting work.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring close, payroll, tax, and payment deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to research differences and drive matters to resolution.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with Corporate, plant, tax, treasury, payroll, and accounts payable teams.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and appropriate handling of confidential financial and payroll information.
- Continuous-improvement mindset and willingness to learn new systems, processes, and areas of responsibility.
Travel
- Limited domestic travel to PLP locations, generally less than 10%.
