Purpose and Impact
At Sleeman Breweries, quality and innovation are at the heart of everything we do. As Senior Financial Analyst, you will provide regional leadership for financial analysis, planning and forecasting, support sound financial decision-making, and provide financial expertise to the regional leadership team.
Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Decision Support
Prepare monthly financial statement analysis and commentary, including analysis of business volume, net revenue, cost of goods sold (COGS), and departmental expenses.
Provide financial analysis and actionable recommendations to business leaders to improve financial results.
Develop financial models and analyses to identify profitability opportunities and understand key business drivers.
Prepare regional gross margin analysis and provide decision support for new product introductions and pricing changes.
Evaluate manufacturing standard costs and perform monthly variance analysis.
Lead regional margin analysis by customer and SKU, partnering with regional stakeholders for input.
Monitor industry trends and competitive data, identify impacts on the business, and recommend appropriate actions.
Provide ad hoc reporting, financial modelling, and analysis to senior management as required.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead the annual regional budgeting process and work with stakeholders to maintain and adjust budgets throughout the year.
Lead the annual regional standard costing process.
Lead the preparation and analysis of the monthly regional financial forecast, develop recommendations, and present findings to the national management team.
Projects, Strategy & Continuous Improvement
Lead the regional implementation of new business analytical tools and support national projects as required.
- Lead the regional strategic business planning process and support special projects.
- Recommend improvements to internal processes and business strategies.
Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives for forecasting, budgeting, strategic planning, reporting, and related financial processes.
Lead regional contact with regulatory bodies, including preparing financial analysis and responding to requests.
Business Partnership
Build strong working relationships with senior management, regional sales managers, field sales employees, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
Present regional monthly financial results to senior business leaders and the national management team.
Partner with Financial Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable teams to support regional financial objectives.
Skills and Qualifications (Required)
Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional accounting designation (CMA or CA) required.
- Minimum five years of experience in a similar role.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect and evaluate data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make actionable recommendations.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting regular reporting deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with senior management and cross-functional teams.
Strong understanding of key business and market factors that drive financial results.
Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint, along with experience using ERP systems.
Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), internal controls, audit requirements, and applicable federal and provincial legislation, regulations, practices, and guidelines.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Self-motivated and disciplined with the ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
Ability to support and demonstrate values compatible with the organization.
Work Environment (Hybrid/Onsite)
- Hybrid work model. Occasional travel and overtime may be required.
- This role is based at our Guelph, ON head office - and requires 3 days in office presence.
