The UC Irvine Department of History is a community of scholars who pride ourselves on teaching, research, professional and public service. The department is comprised of 37 senate faculty, 5-7 non senate lecturers, 45 PHD students, 5 MA students, and 325 undergraduate majors. The department houses the UCI History Project, the Career Development for Historians program and the Women and Social Movements Journal. In addition, we provide administrative support to the Religious Studies Program, Armenian Studies Program, Jewish Studies Minor and Native American and Indigenous Studies Minor and may support other School programs and Departments and in service to other programs and Departments in accordance with the needs of the School.
Your Role on the Team
The Financial Analyst is an integral part of a small but dynamic administrative team who support faculty research, teaching, and outreach programs within the Department of History and in service to other programs and Departments in accordance with the needs of the School. Under general supervision of the MSO and Department Chair, the incumbent is responsible for the financial and administrative management of all department financial accounts that include the annual operating budget, faculty research accounts, program accounts (Program in Religious Studies, Armenian Studies Program, Minor in Jewish Studies, Native American and Indigenous Studies, the UCI History Project), federal and private contracts and grants, and extramural funds. The incumbent will work with the School of Humanities Finance Office and is responsible for accounting and purchasing functions utilizing the KFS accounting system and other online systems to maintain accurate records.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required:
Proficiency with UCI accounting systems and forms (KFS, Pal-Card, CTS Card, and COD s) Working knowledge of campus financial systems to prepare and process BATs, GECs, Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Removals, Travel Reimbursements, Travel Advances, and Disbursement Vouchers.)
Skill in financial analysis, planning, preparation, and administration of university and external funds.
Ability to monitor expenditures on multiple accounts, funds, and project codes.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, department, and campus staff, and students with various social, cultural, economic, religious, and educational backgrounds.
Demonstrated analytical skills to identify problems, collect and analyze data, define objectives, and propose or recommend solutions.
Demonstrated ability to maintain financial documents in accordance with UC policies and procedures.
Ability to work as part of a team and to effectively collaborate with other individuals. Ability to write concise, logical, and grammatically correct analytical reports, correspondence, presentations, and memos.
Ability to accurately summarize financial data and develop written or verbal reports. Proven skill in the use of a PC computer, Microsoft Office (word processing, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and internet applications to access and search the internet to prepare financial reports, presentations and correspondence.
Experience in data collection and preparation of comprehensive financial reports. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and organize multiple projects to complete tasks in a timely manner in an environment with frequent interruptions.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of records and information.
Knowledge of university, school, and department safety policies and procedures. Ability to follow a traditional work schedule: M-F, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Preferred
Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $36.89- $39.20 (Hourly).
