General Information

  • The IT department at James Madison University (JMU) is seeking applicants for a
  • Business Analyst. This position provides quality functional and technical
  • support to assist end users with their use of software applications and business
  • systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with the user community to analyze existing business processes and

identify areas for process improvement.

  • Partner with the user community to identify, analyze and communicate new

business requirements.

  • Develop, document and perform system, integration, and user acceptance tests.
  • Provide support to customers.

Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of business analysis techniques and practices
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle
  • Knowledge of information systems/information technology trends
  • Knowledge of customer service best practices
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to apply and interpret user requirements, apply logical sequencing to

improve or change business processes and rapidly learn computer software

  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Basic Windows/desktop application experience
  • Interpersonal skills, including excellent oral and written communication

skills, to include ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical

individuals

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

Additional Considerations

  • Knowledge of software applications / ERP systems
  • Demonstrated experience as a business analyst
  • Basic knowledge of project management
