Work Location:• The work under this position will be performed primarily in a telework environment, and/or with onsite support provided at CDC facilities as required and directed by the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).• Personnel must be available during standard business hours and accessible via telephone, email, and virtual collaboration platforms.• Occasional travel may be required to support meetings, conferences, training events, or other project-related activities, as authorized by the COR.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in assessing business needs and user requirements for data and information systems and support recommendations to improve data analysis, reporting, and dissemination through the adoption of innovative technologies and data-driven solutions.• Evaluate and support the implementation of computational infrastructures, security practices, analytics tools, and information technology solutions that enhance data management and analytical capabilities.• Apply data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, visualization, cloud-based, and analytical tools to derive insights from complex datasets and support scientific and programmatic objectives.Process Owner: Sr. Director, HRApproval Date: 02/09/2026 Page 2 of 4Information contained herein is proprietary to Chenega Corporation. Printed copies are obsolete after 11:59 PM October 5, 2026• Provide technical support and guidance to program staff on the use of data science methods, analytical techniques, and data visualization tools.• Collaborate with senior data scientists, researchers, and stakeholders to support the adoption and implementation of emerging data science methodologies and technologies.• Support the implementation of data governance frameworks, metadata standards, and best practices in coordination with Agency governance and technology organizations.• Assist in evaluating existing data management practices, developing data management plans, and promoting effective data stewardship throughout the data lifecycle.• Provide analytical support for data science initiatives, modernization efforts, and emerging projects while fostering collaboration across CDC programs and external partners.• Contribute to the management, integration, analysis, and visualization of large and complex datasets to support scientific research, public health programs, and organizational priorities.• Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of data and cloud-based solutions that improve access to data assets and organizational knowledge resources.• Develop and utilize statistical, computational, and analytical tools to support Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) activities and related data analytics projects.• Assist in the development of user-centered analytical tools, dashboards, databases, and web-based solutions that enhance data accessibility and usability for diverse audiences.• Support strategic planning activities by contributing to the development of recommendations and roadmaps for advancing data systems, analytics capabilities, and knowledge management practices.• Analyze technical issues, identify potential solutions, and recommend corrective actions to support project objectives and operational efficiency.• Support researchers, scientists, and program staff in the development and application of electronic phenotypes, case definitions, and advanced analytical methodologies for public health and chronic disease research.• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Informatics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related field.• Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting data analytics, data science, healthcare analytics, public health informatics, or related activities.• Demonstrated experience using SQL for data extraction, transformation, validation, and management.• Experience using SAS, Python, and/or R for data analysis and surveillance data processing.• Experience analyzing and interpreting public health, healthcare, surveillance, or population-based datasets.• Experience developing data quality assurance procedures and conducting data validation reviews.• Experience in creating dashboards and reports using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.• Strong experience working with large, structured datasets and relational databases.• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:• Experience supporting CDC, HHS, or other federal public health agencies.• Experience working with public health surveillance systems, including infectious disease and chronic disease surveillance programs.• Experience evaluating and utilizing healthcare data sources, including electronic health records, healthcare claims, commercial or federal healthcare datasets (e.g., HealthVerity, Premier, Truveta, IQVIA, PCORnet, MarketScan, CMS, HRSA, and VA).• Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards and common data models, including HL7, FHIR, and OMOP.• Experience supporting CDC Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) efforts, CDC One Data Platform (1CDP), or other enterprise public health data platforms.• Experience working with cloud-based analytics environments, large relational databases, and big data technologies.• Experience developing data dictionaries, metadata standards, data governance documentation, and data management procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:• Advanced knowledge of public health surveillance methodologies, data management principles, and data quality assurance practices.• Proficiency in SQL, SAS, and R, with the ability to develop automated data processing and reporting workflows.• Strong experience in data ingestion, cleansing, transformation, validation, and integration of large and complex datasets.• Proficiency in Power BI and other data visualization tools for developing dashboards, reports, and analytical products.• Ability to analyze and interpret surveillance, healthcare, and population health data to identify trends, patterns, and data quality issues.• Strong understanding of relational database structures, data governance concepts, and documentation best practices.• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while working independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy, integrity, and continuous process improvement.
