  • Under direct supervision, the incumbent acquires skills and knowledge of
  • professional concepts in research data analysis and works on small projects or

  • The incumbent performs basic statistical and data analysis and supports the
  • collection, preparation, cleaning, and review of research data for analysis and
  • inclusion in reports.
  • The incumbent assists with report preparation and data analysis for internal
  • constituents and supports the evaluation and research of data reporting
  • products. The position uses data visualization and reporting tools such as
  • Tableau, Jaspersoft, Power BI, and other relevant platforms, with an expectation
  • of developing proficiency in tools appropriate to assigned projects and
  • reporting needs.
  • The position requires familiarity with SQL and data platforms such as Snowflake,
  • Oracle, SQL Server, or similar systems, as well as familiarity with scripting
  • and analytical tools such as Python, R, or comparable technologies. The
  • incumbent applies foundational technical and analytical skills while continuing
  • to develop knowledge of data analysis, reporting, visualization, and related
  • tools under direct supervision.

Department Overview

  • The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (HDFCCC) is the only
  • cancer center in the Bay Area to receive the prestigious designation of
  • “comprehensive” from the National Cancer Institute. We combine basic science,
  • clinical research, epidemiology, cancer control and patient care throughout the
  • University of California, San Francisco. Currently, the HDFCCC conducts over 700
  • clinical trials across various departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Statistical and Data Analysis

Under direct supervision, performs basic statistical and data analysis.

  • Assists with report preparation and data analysis for internal constituents.
  • Supports the evaluation and research of data reporting products.
  • Develops knowledge in areas of analysis, reporting, visualization, and

related tools under direct supervision.

Research Data Collection and Preparation

  • Collects research data and prepare for analysis and inclusion in reports.

Data Visualization and Reporting

  • Use visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau, JasperSoft, Power Bi

and others.

  • Familiar with tools and ability to learn to use appropriate tools.

Data Cleaning and Review

  • Data cleaning and review.

Report Preparation and Analysis

  • Assists with report preparation and/or analysis for internal constituents.

Data Reporting Products

  • Assists with evaluation and research of data reporting products.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Acquiring knowledge of research function. Acquiring ability to perform

research analysis duties.

  • Acquiring statistical analysis, systems programming, and database design

skills to perform research analysis duties.

  • Ability to effectively manage time and see assigned parts of projects through

to completion on deadline.

  • Basic consultation and communication skills.
