This position assists with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance activities, training coordination, performance management administration, employee engagement, and HR record management.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department and serves as a resource for employees and supervisors throughout the employee lifecycle. This position assists with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance activities, training coordination, performance management administration, employee engagement, and HR record management.

Essential Functions

  • Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
  • Coordinate recruitment activities including job postings, applicant tracking, candidate communications, and interview scheduling.
  • Assist with candidate screening, reference checks, background checks, and pre-employment requirements.
  • Prepare offer letters and onboarding documentation.
  • Maintain recruitment records and assist with recruitment reporting.
  • Participate in job fairs, hiring events, and workforce development initiatives.

Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle Administration

  • Coordinate onboarding and new employee orientation processes.
  • Ensure completion of required onboarding paperwork, training, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain onboarding checklists and employee records.
  • Process employee status changes, promotions, transfers, and separations.
  • Coordinate exit interviews and offboarding activities.

Employee Relations Support

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and workplace practices.
  • Provide support related to employee relations matters and investigations.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding employee and organizational information.
  • Promote positive employee relations and customer service.

Compliance & Records Administration

  • Maintain personnel files and employment records in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor employee certifications, licenses, and required training.
  • Administer I-9 employment eligibility verification and employment verification requests.
  • Assist with HR audits, compliance reviews, and reporting requirements.
  • Support implementation and communication of HR policies and procedures.

Benefits & Leave Administration

  • Assist employees with benefit enrollment and benefits-related questions.
  • Support annual open enrollment activities.
  • Assist with leave administration and related documentation.
  • Coordinate employee benefits communications.

Training & Performance Management Support

  • Coordinate employee training programs and compliance training requirements.
  • Maintain training records and participation reports.
  • Assist with administration of the performance evaluation process.
  • Track performance review completion and communicate deadlines to supervisors and employees.

Employee Engagement & Organizational Culture

  • Support employee recognition, wellness, and engagement initiatives.
  • Assist with employee surveys and communication efforts.
  • Coordinate HR-sponsored events and activities.
  • Help foster a diverse, inclusive, and accessible workplace culture.

Administrative & Project Support

  • Prepare HR correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, and documentation.
  • Support department projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Attend meetings and training as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in

  • Human Resources
  • Business Administration
  • Organizational Leadership
  • Public Administration
  • Related field

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience.
  • Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, or HR operations.
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare, home health, nonprofit, social services, disability services, or community-based organizations.
  • Experience using HRIS systems and applicant tracking systems.
  • Personal experience with disability or demonstrated commitment to disability inclusion.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of human resources principles and employment practices.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position is primarily office-based and requires frequent use of computers, telephones, and other standard office equipment. Occasional travel to organizational locations or community events may be required.
