EverOn Data Center Services is searching for a Construction Staff Accountant to support the Accounting and Finance team with accounts receivable, job cost accounting, journal entries, and month-end close. This role is responsible for accurate customer billing and cash application, timely collections follow-up, and clean, well-supported reconciliations that keep project and general ledger balances in agreement. The Staff Accountant will work directly with Project Management, Operations, Project Controls, and the Finance team to make sure costs and receivables are recorded to the correct jobs and cost codes. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of construction accounting experience, a strong foundation in job costing and accounts receivable, and a track record of meeting month-end close deadlines with a high level of accuracy.

EverOn Data Center Services is searching for a Construction Staff Accountant to support the Accounting and Finance team with accounts receivable, job cost accounting, journal entries, and month-end close. This role is responsible for accurate customer billing and cash application, timely collections follow-up, and clean, well-supported reconciliations that keep project and general ledger balances in agreement. The Staff Accountant will work directly with Project Management, Operations, Project Controls, and the Finance team to make sure costs and receivables are recorded to the correct jobs and cost codes. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of construction accounting experience, a strong foundation in job costing and accounts receivable, and a track record of meeting month-end close deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain accurate job cost records by project and cost code, reviewing the coding of AP invoices, payroll, and journal entries to jobs
- Reconcile job cost detail to the general ledger monthly, and research and correct miscoded costs
- Prepare and issue customer invoices and progress billings in NetSuite with complete supporting backup, as directed by Project Controls
- Record and apply customer payments and cash receipts accurately and on time
- Monitor the AR aging, follow up on past-due balances, and work with Project Managers to resolve billing questions and disputes
- Track retainage receivable by project and support retainage collection at project closeout
- Maintain customer records and organized billing and collections documentation
- Reconcile the AR subledger to the general ledger each month and resolve variances
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and adjustments, with clear supporting documentation
- Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations, including cash, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, and accrued liabilities
- Assist with bank reconciliations and the timely resolution of reconciling items
- Support the month-end close checklist and meet close deadlines
- Support year-end financial statement audits with schedules and documentation
- Assist with process-improvement, automation, systems integration and enhancement projects as assigned
- Assist with other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or accounting preferred
- 3-5 years’ experience in construction accounting
- Previous data center, or NetSuite experience is a plus
- Construction experience Required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND COMPETENCIES
- In-depth knowledge of reconciliations, general ledger entries, and job costing
- Strong proficiency in the use of MS Excel, MS Office and financial management software
- Proficiency in Procore or other relatable Project Management Software
- Analytical thinker with the ability to strategize and solve problems
- Superior attention to detail for accurate financial reporting and identification of discrepancies and risks
- Proactive in building trusting relationships and following up on action items
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines while working independently
- Excellent organizational skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
- Handle confidential information in a sensitive and professional manner
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work at a computer for the entirety of each working day, required
- Ability and willingness for periodic travel (<10%) to offsite customer locations, required
