Payroll Accountant

Position Summary

The Payroll Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reconciliation of payroll-related accounts. This role combines accounting expertise with payroll administration to support financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and reconcile payroll-related journal entries and general ledger accounts.
• Correct journal errors.
• Record non-automated payroll journals third party payments.
• Assist with reconciling tax adjustments from federal, state, and/or local jurisdictions.
• Respond to inquiries regarding payroll and accounting issues in a timely and professional manner.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in payroll accounting or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of payroll systems and accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll software (e.g., Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle).
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Executives and other internal customers.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with multi-state payroll and tax compliance.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, PeopleSoft, Oracle, and/or Workday.
• GAAP SME.
