Job Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for executing the monthly accounting cycle for the hotel portfolio and related entities, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting support, and inter-company billing across multiple entities.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and post recurring monthly journal entries, including amortization, depreciation, insurance allocations, management fees, loan-related entries, payroll entries, and accruals.
Reconcile bank accounts, cash, undeposited funds, and loan-related balances, and verify balances needed for scheduled auto drafts and payments.
Review, approve, and process AP accruals and other month-end adjustments.
Maintain accounts receivable activity, including payroll billing, intercompany billing, invoice preparation, payment application, and delinquency review.
Download, review, and record bank statement activity, interest income, transfers, fees, and loan payments.
Upload trial balances, save supporting files, and complete month-end balance sheet and operating statement reconciliations.
Review fixed asset clearing accounts, capitalize items as needed, and run depreciation entries and variance reports.
Prepare and distribute monthly reporting deliverables, including summary reports, loan statements, and supporting schedules.
Perform department financial review, identify required accruals or adjustments, and resolve outstanding issues during close.
- Support audit, forecast, budget upload, and ad hoc accounting tasks as assigned.
- Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in hospitality, real estate, or multi-entity environments.
Strong knowledge of month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Experience with accounting systems such as MRI, spreadsheets, and reconciliation tools.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Clear communication skills for working with property, finance, and other contacts.
