Job Details: Job Location: PMC-National Capital Area Command - Washington, DC, Education Level: Bachelor's Degree, Salary Range: $32.00 - $32.00Hourly, Job Category: Finance, Schedule/Hours: Monday - Friday Full-time; 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM w/ 30-min break This position is responsible for: Under the general direction of the Regional Accounting Manager, performs computerized double-entry bookkeeping task requiring basic and advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of fund accounting in order to properly record and maintain precise fiscal records and financial data. Applies fundamental bookkeeping knowledge and skills to varied bookkeeping task such as posting, checking entries, issuing checks, balancing accounts, and preparing financial reports for assigned accounts; prepares and maintains financial records in an accurate, complete, and timely manner while ensuring the integrity, security, and accountability of Salvation Army financial accounts. Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options, assists in budget preparation, and reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information. Prepares and ratifies hours and accruals for payroll processing. Key Responsibilities: Reviews, monitors, and ensures the accountability and security of all monies processed through the office; prepares and verifies bank deposits. Posts and maintains a variety of ledgers; enters income, expense, and balance sheet data into computerized financial systems; proofs entries to verify accuracy, completeness and integrity; prepares and makes journal entries, balances accounts and prepares reports. Receives and processes all invoices; run checks matching invoices with appropriate back-up paperwork and purchase orders; enters data into accounts payable system; weekly runs reports to determine financial position of all accounts, reconciling bank balances. Transfers totals from ledger accounts to routine financial statements; prepares Income & Expense Statement, Balance Sheet, Bank Reconciliation, Mileage, Self- Denial, Accounts Receivable and Payable Reports, etc. Prepares month end journal entries to close accounts on a monthly basis. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. 5% travel to local Salvation Army Corps.
