Position Introduction
- The University of Oklahoma, as a flagship institution, impacts lives all over
- the state via its teaching, research, and service. In support of its mission,
- the university is seeking a Senior Data Analyst in the department of
- Institutional Research & Reporting, a group responsible for providing accurate
- information about OU to stakeholders of all types. This position is part of a
- core team responsible for institutional data set design, maintenance, and
- analysis. This role owns the design and integrity of our HR data sets, building
- custom tables and analyses to support both standard and ad hoc reporting needs.
- The successful candidate will perform data quality checks prior to freeze
- events, monitor for shifts in reporting norms or coding practices, and maintain
- deep subject-matter expertise across HR data, partnering closely with partner
- offices to track evolving coding standards and requirements. Responsibilities
- also include developing and maintaining metadata and supporting documentation,
- consulting on appropriate calculation methodologies, and staying current on
- federal, state, and national reporting standards to ensure accurate data design.
- This position serves as a key troubleshooting resource, diagnosing anomalies and
- adapting to changes in system usage as they arise.
Essential Duties
- Manages master datasets, including creation, updates, commissioning, and
decommissioning across enterprise systems.
- Designs and manages the reporting environment, including data sources,
security, and metadata.
- Advises stakeholders on data warehouse reporting requirements and revisions.
- Troubleshoots the reporting database environment and resolves complex data
issues.
- Leads data integrity and normalization initiatives across institutional
systems.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- 48 months experience as a Data Analyst or in related field.
- Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months data analysis, business analysis
- experience in lieu of the Bachelor¿s Degree for a total of 96 months experience.
Department Preferences
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, Statistics or related field.
- 48 months experience in institutional research or comparable data analysis
activity.
- Must be detail-oriented and have good proofreading and composition skills.
- Must be able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines.
- Must have advanced Excel skills, including experience with formulas and pivot
tables.
- Proficient in use of SAS, SQL, or other Oracle query tool(s). Proficient in
use of Snowflake.
- Must have intermediate research skills and experience with data analysis
techniques.
- Must be highly organized and able to handle multiple projects.
- Must be able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with staff.
- Must have strong initiative to solve problems.
- Must have good written and oral communication skills.
