Position Overview

Ultralife Corporation is seeking a Business & Data Analyst to drive data-driven decision-making across our Newark, NY manufacturing facility.

This role will develop and maintain data solutions that connect MRP, Financial, Sales, and Engineering/R&D systems and transform information into actionable insights for plant and business leadership.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills in SQL, Python, Power BI, and data modeling with the business understanding needed to translate complex data into meaningful performance insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Integration, Architecture & Automation
  • Develop and maintain data models and pipelines connecting MRP, Financial, Sales, and Engineering/R&D systems.
  • Design structured data models, including relational and Star Schema architectures, to support reporting and analytics.
  • Write and optimize SQL/T-SQL queries for data extraction and transformation.
  • Develop ETL/data transformation processes using Power Query, Python, or other appropriate tools.
  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve automated data and document management workflows.
  • Establish data-quality checks and processes to ensure accurate, consistent, and reliable reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual data, reporting, and business processes.

Power BI & Business Intelligence

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for plant and business leadership.
  • Develop dashboards covering:
  • Production and operational performance
  • Inventory and supply chain metrics
  • Financial and business performance
  • Sales and customer metrics
  • Engineering & R&D project tracking
  • Quality and other key business KPIs
  • Develop advanced DAX measures and Power Query transformations.
  • Optimize Power BI models and reports for performance and usability.
  • Establish consistent KPI definitions and reporting standards.

Business & Operational Analysis

  • Partner with the Plant Manager and functional leaders to identify business questions and analytical opportunities.
  • Analyze operational, financial, sales, and project data to identify trends, risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities.
  • Translate complex data into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Support continuous improvement and strategic decision-making through data analysis.
  • Automate manual reporting and develop self-service analytical tools where appropriate.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Sales, Engineering/R&D, and IT to understand requirements and develop effective data solutions.
  • Serve as a bridge between technical data resources and business users.
  • Document data sources, models, calculations, and reporting processes.
  • Provide guidance and support to users of Power BI and analytical tools.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in business analysis, data analytics, business intelligence, or a related role.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL/T-SQL and relational databases.
  • 3+ years of Power BI experience, including advanced DAX and Power Query.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and Star Schema design.
  • Python programming experience required.
  • Experience developing data pipelines, ETL processes, or automated reporting solutions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Experience integrating data from multiple business systems.
  • Experience with financial, sales, project management, or engineering/R&D data.
  • Experience with data warehouse or enterprise data architecture concepts.
  • Experience implementing Power BI security and governance.
