The Town of Garner is seeking a highly organized, professional, and service-oriented Executive Assistant to support the Executive Leadership Team. This position provides high-level administrative and organizational support to executive leaders, coordinates schedules and meetings, facilitates communication, and assists with the efficient execution of administrative priorities. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional judgment, discretion, attention to detail, and the ability manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced local government environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive executive level administrative support to the Town Manager, Assistant Town Managers, Town Attorney and Assistant Town Attorneys including scheduling, meeting coordination, document preparation, and daily office operations (supplies, mail, correspondence, calendar).
- Manages communication and information flow between the Town Manager and Assistant Town. Managers, Legal Services, Department Heads, advisory boards, and external stakeholders.
- Responds to inquiries, concerns, and requests for information from citizens, staff, council members, and external stakeholders; prepares a variety of scheduled and special reports for the executive leadership team.
- Assists with monitoring expenditures and budget usage and availability; processes invoices as needed.
- Reviews and prepares documents for signature; collects and analyzes data; prepares reports, agenda items, agreements, forms, and other official documentation.
- Coordinates large group meetings and special events for the Town Manager and Town Attorney; arranges travel and conferences for the Town Manager and others for various national, state and local events.
- Maintains a working knowledge of Town operations to resolve minor issues, provide accurate information, and ensure smooth coordination across departments.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicants must have:
- An Associate Degree in business administration or a related field and four years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience OR
- A Bachelor Degree in business administration or a related field and two years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience OR
- an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Starting salary will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s relevant education and experience.
This position is regularly scheduled to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings, early mornings and weekends, to support Town Council meetings, advisory board meetings, special events, or deadlines.
