Position Summary
- University of Dayton School of Law (UDSL) invites applications and nominations
- for the position of Assistant Dean and Executive Director of Enrollment
- Management and Marketing. Reporting directly to the Dean, this senior
- administrative leader provides strategic direction for enrollment management,
- admissions, recruitment, and marketing for the School of Law’s J.D. and
- residential LL.M. programs, including traditional in-person and online/hybrid
- offerings.
- The Assistant Dean is a member of the School of Law leadership team and partners
- with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and University colleagues to build a
- strong and diverse applicant pool, support enrollment goals, strengthen the
- student experience from prospect through matriculation, and advance the School
- of Law’s mission and brand.
Essential Responsibilities
- Strategic Enrollment Management and Recruitment
- Develop and execute a comprehensive, data-informed enrollment management and
- recruitment strategy aligned with UDSL enrollment goals for class size, academic
- credentials, diversity, and net tuition revenue.
- Work with the Dean to set annual recruitment priorities, enrollment targets,
and timelines.
- Set annual conversion strategies for each program and stage of the enrollment
funnel, from prospect through matriculation.
- Forecast enrollment, applicant volume, yield, credentials, and other key
- indicators; translate analysis into recommendations and timely decisions for the
- Dean and leadership team.
- Identify emerging markets, prospective student populations, partnerships, and
program opportunities that support sustainable enrollment.
- Designing, coordinating and participating in recruitment and conversion events
on campus, online, and at regional and national locations.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with pre-law advisors,
- undergraduate institutions, professional organizations, prospective students,
- alumni, and other enrollment partners.
- Develop distinct strategies that reflect the similarities and differences
among traditional in-person, online/hybrid, and other law school programs.
Admissions Operations and Compliance
- Lead the administration of the admissions process, including application
- review, decision-making, communications, scholarship notifications, event
- invitations, and onboarding.
- Advise and coordinate the Faculty Admissions Committee in consultation with
the Dean.
- Establish efficient, consistent, and student-centered application processing
- procedures; ensure staff are trained to use the admissions database, CRM, and
- related technologies.
- Collaborate with Financial Aid and other University offices to support
- compliance with federal and state regulations, LSAC requirements, ABA standards,
- and University and School of Law policies.
- Prepare accurate statistical and narrative reports for the Dean, the Director
- of Budgets and Operations, ABA and other accreditors, LSAC, and other authorized
- partners.
- Support the enrollment and onboarding experience by coordinating
- orientation-related activities and other Law School leaders to facilitate the
- transition from admitted student to enrolled student.
Marketing, Communications, and Brand Management
- Partner with the Director of Communications and Marketing to develop and
- implement integrated recruitment marketing plans across print, web, email,
- social media, paid search, digital advertising, and other appropriate channels.
- Oversee the development and timely distribution of accurate, compelling, and
audience-appropriate recruitment materials and communications.
- Ensure admissions-related website content is current, accessible, easy to
- navigate, and consistent with UDSL and University of Dayton brand standards;
- coordinate website updates with the appropriate University partners.
- Use market research, audience insights, and campaign performance data to
refine messaging, channel strategy, and return on investment.
- Represent UDSL at recruitment events and communicate effectively with
- prospective students, families, pre-law advisors, undergraduate partners, and
- other influencers.
People, Budget, and Cross-Campus Leadership
- Lead, supervise, and develop the Admissions team, including hiring, training,
goal setting, performance management, and evaluation.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, accountable, and student-centered team
culture consistent with the University’s Catholic and Marianist values.
- Develop and manage the enrollment management and communications budget in
- collaboration with the Dean and Director of Budgets and Operations; allocate
- resources strategically and demonstrate responsible return on investment.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and University offices to
sustain recruitment, conversion, retention, and student success initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Dean and Director of Budgets and Operations to develop
- and administer scholarship allocation strategies that are equitable, effective,
- and aligned with enrollment goals.
- Use emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, responsibly and
- ethically to improve enrollment operations, communications, analytics, and
- service to prospective students.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience in enrollment
- management, admissions, recruitment, marketing, communications, advertising,
- public relations, or a related field; supervisory experience required.
- Success developing and executing recruitment, marketing, communications, and
social media strategies.
- Knowledge of current trends and developments in graduate, professional, or
undergraduate enrollment management and admissions.
- Experience using enrollment data, market research, metrics, and analytics to
guide strategy and evaluate outcomes.
- Experience with admissions databases, LSAC systems, customer relationship
management (CRM) platforms, and digital communications tools.
- Experience leading and developing a team, managing competing priorities, and
working effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, presentation, and problem-solving
skills.
- Knowledge of current and emerging technology (including AI) and its
application to enrollment management.
- Ability to build productive relationships with diverse constituencies,
including faculty, staff, students, alumni, advisors, and external partners.
- Experience developing scholarship strategy in line with institutional
enrollment goals.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365, databases, web-based
research, online advertising, paid search, and search engine optimization.
- Commitment to inclusive excellence and the ability to work respectfully and
effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Valid driver’s license with low risk driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal
candidate will bring many of the following
- J.D. or master’s degree in higher education administration, counseling,
student personnel, or similar strongly preferred.
- Experience managing enrollment or admissions for a law school, graduate
school, or other professional school.
- Experience with financial aid concepts, scholarship strategy, and enrollment
revenue management.
- Demonstrated experience with project management principles, practices, tools,
and techniques.
- Experience with web content management, digital analytics, paid search
- marketing, search engine optimization, and significant website or marketing
- projects.
- Experience developing recruitment strategies for online, hybrid, and in-person
programs.
- Demonstrated experience working with emerging technologies, including various
forms of AI as it pertains to enrollment management.
- Willingness to leverage and lead an experienced team.
- Knowledge of ABA, LSAC, and law school admissions and accreditation
environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge and appreciation of Catholic Marianist values, and to
