THE POSITION

  • The Human Resources Generalist provides HR support across multiple business
  • units, with a primary focus on CSEC’s Food & Beverage operations. Working
  • closely with the Human Resources Business Partner, this role supports the full
  • employee lifecycle, including high-volume recruitment, onboarding, employee
  • relations, performance management, training and offboarding.
  • The ideal candidate brings HR experience from a fast-paced, high-volume
  • environment such as hospitality, food & beverage, entertainment, retail or a
  • similar industry, with experience supporting large hourly and part-time
  • workforces considered a strong asset. This role requires a hands-on, responsive
  • HR professional who can build strong relationships with leaders, manage
  • competing priorities and provide practical HR support in an event-driven
  • environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Recruitment & Workforce Planning
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment, including developing job postings, reviewing
  • applications, conducting pre-screens and interviews, coordinating hiring
  • decisions and supporting offer negotiations.
  • Partner with Food & Beverage leaders to understand workforce plans,
  • staffing requirements and approved budgets and develop recruitment
  • strategies to attract and retain qualified talent.
  • Build strong relationships with Food & Beverage leadership to understand

operational needs, hiring practices and anticipated staffing requirements.

  • Provide guidance and support to hiring managers throughout the recruitment

and selection process to promote timely and consistent hiring practices.

  • Draft employment letters for new hires, promotions, transfers and other

internal employee movements.

  • Coordinate and support internal and external hiring fairs, including
  • establishing participation requirements and engaging Food & Beverage
  • leaders in recruitment activities.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen recruitment processes, candidate

experience and hiring efficiency.

  • Develop and maintain recruitment metrics and analytics, including
  • vacancies, applicant activity, time-to-fill, hiring activity and other
  • relevant workforce trends.

Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle

  • Partner with managers to support effective onboarding of new employees.
  • Support employee changes and movement throughout the employee lifecycle,

including new hires, transfers, promotions and other employment changes.

  • Support employee setup and changes within UKG, including applicable

benefits, allowances and employment information.

  • Partner with the HR administration team to support employee benefit and

RRSP enrolments and changes.

  • Respond to day-to-day employee and manager HR inquiries and provide

guidance on HR processes, programs and policies.

  • Support accurate and timely maintenance of employee information and HR

documentation.

Employee Relations & Manager Support

  • Provide day-to-day HR guidance and support to managers, escalating complex
  • or higher-risk employee relations matters to the HR Business Partner as
  • appropriate.
  • Support the HR Business Partner with employee relations matters, including
  • employee meetings, workplace investigations, performance concerns and
  • disciplinary processes.
  • Gather information and documentation related to employee concerns and

assist with investigation preparation and follow-up.

  • Draft disciplinary and performance-management documentation for Food &

Beverage managers in consultation with the HR Business Partner.

  • Coach managers on the consistent application of HR policies, procedures and

employment practices.

  • Identify recurring employee or operational issues and bring trends forward

to the HR Business Partner for review.

Terminations & Offboarding

  • Support the HR Business Partner and managers throughout the termination and

offboarding process.

  • Prepare termination documentation, including pay-in-lieu calculations,

termination letters and related documentation.

  • Participate in termination meetings as required.
  • Coordinate required follow-up with Payroll, Benefits, IT and other internal

stakeholders to support timely employee offboarding.

Training & Development

  • Assist with the delivery of manager training on recruitment, employee

relations, performance management and other HR processes.

  • Support in-person Health & Safety training and other employee training

initiatives as required.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen manager capability and improve

consistency in HR practices across the Food & Beverage business unit.

HR Operations & Partnership

  • Act as a visible and accessible HR resource for Food & Beverage employees

and leaders.

  • Develop a strong understanding of Food & Beverage operations and
  • proactively identify opportunities where HR can support business and
  • workforce needs.
  • Support HR reporting, analytics and workforce data requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive employee and

business information.

  • Actively participate in CSEC safety programs and comply with established

safety policies and procedures.

  • Support broader HR initiatives and projects as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

THE INDIVIDUAL

  • The ideal individual will have the following background:
  • 2-3 years of working experience in a Human Resources Generalist or

Coordinator capacity in a fast paced environment.

  • Experience working within Food and Beverage considered an asset.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Collaborative with HR colleagues and the business, with the ability to be

resourceful and autonomous.

  • Demonstrated ability to practice and show empathy, while building strong

working relationships within the HR team and business.

  • Demonstrated sound judgement and decision making skills with strong
  • organizational skills, with ability to know when to escalate for resolution
  • support.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced

environment.

  • Eagerness and willingness to learn all areas associated with the F&B business

unit.

  • Must have strong attention to detail and accuracy to be successful in this

role.

  • Understanding and knowledge with computer programs is considered an

asset(i.e. HR Systems, Microsoft Suite, etc).

  • Must be able to handle highly sensitive and confidential information

pertaining to employees
