Weekend Account Manager

Weekend Account Managers do more than just coordinate freight; they run point on critical moves that keep our customers and carrier partners in sync and on schedule. In this role, which runs Friday through Monday, you’ll take ownership of every shipment from start to finish, making real-time decisions, solving problems on the fly, and building relationships that last. Your impact

• Own real time problem resolution for weekend freight, addressing terminal delays, missed appointments, equipment issues and other disruptions as they occur.
• Check appointment availability across terminals and warehouses and schedule or reschedule pickups and deliveries to keep freight moving.
• Provide timely, clear updates to customers and partner carriers on shipment status, delays and next steps.
• Serve as the point of contact for weekend client inquiries, proactively fielding calls and emails regarding high priority freight.
• Cover freight that is currently planned by negotiating rates and capacity with carriers to protect service levels.
• Work with Forrest Transportation(asset) drivers – helping plan loads, solve problems, and communicate with dispatch to keep the fleet moving.
• Track equipment (chassis) and maintain accurate visibility of asset location and availability
• Perform data entry and update orders in the Transportation Management System (TMS) to maintain accurate records
• Send clear, concise reporting to customers and internal teammates summarizing weekend activity, outstanding issues, and required follow-up
• Manage and report on yard equipment inventory
• Recover proof of delivery (POD’s) and ensure documentation is complete
• Set the team up for a successful start of the week through detailed pass-down notes, resolved issues and organized open items

Qualifications and skills we value

• 3-4 years of experience in logistics/transportation
• Drayage/port experience is a plus
• Ownership mentality – takes responsibility for outcomes and follows through on commitments
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and problem-solve in the moment
• Effective communication and collaboration skills as part of a team
• Strong communication skills for updating customers, carriers, drivers and internal teams
• Comfortable negotiating with carriers on short notice
• Detail orientated with experience updating TMS systems, tracking equipment and preparing clear reporting
• Customer service or operational experience in the transportation industry preferred
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
