Staff Accountant

Gibson, Inc. is seeking a Staff Accountant to perform daily general accounting functions to properly state assets, liabilities and record revenue and expenses. This position reports to the Assistant Controller and will ensure that necessary journal entries are recorded, accurate, timely, and complete. This position will prepare detailed balance sheet reconciliations to verify the integrity of financial results.

Essential Functions

• Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
• Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations for cash, fixed assets, and accrued payroll expenses.
• Assist with monthly close processes including participating in intercompany balancing.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal accounting policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support operational and financial goals.
• Assist with audit preparation and respond to auditor requests

Required Skills/Abilities

• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent level of personal organization. Must be highly detail-oriented, with the ability to handle multiple assignments promptly and effectively.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to make decisions using sound and accurate judgment, with understanding of when to escalate issues to management.
• Demonstrated ability to work calmly in a fast-paced team environment while effectively managing multiple projects.
• Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently.
• Ability to work independently to achieve deadlines and assure accuracy of own work.
• Outstanding time management skillset with the ability to prioritize.
• Exposure to Microsoft D365 or other similar ERP systems a plus.

Education and Experience

• B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent degree or related work experience
• 1-3 years of experience in audit or general accounting experience. Combination of education and/or experience will be considered for the requirements listed.
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 and OneStream familiarity a plus.
• CPA or CPA candidate a plus.
