This role will work directly with our CFO/COO and play an important part in managing day-to-day accounting operations across our portfolio of businesses.
We're looking for someone who can take ownership of their work, manage competing priorities, and bring a strong understanding of accounting principles and processes to the team.
You'll be involved in everything from accounts payable and reconciliations to month-end close and financial reporting. This is a great opportunity for an experienced accountant who's ready to take on more responsibility, work closely with senior leadership, and continue growing their career.
What You'll Do
Accounting Operations & Month-End Close
- Support and independently manage assigned components of the monthly and quarterly close process across multiple business entities.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.
- Own monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accounts are accurate, complete, and reconciled on time.
- Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate financial records in NetSuite.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Support year-end close, external audits, and financial reporting requirements.
Accounts Payable & Financial Operations
- Manage and oversee the Accounts Payable Coordinator, providing day-to-day guidance, training, and accountability for AP operations.
- Oversee the full accounts payable process, including invoice processing, coding, approvals, and payment preparation.
- Coordinate vendor payments and monitor outstanding payables, providing visibility into upcoming payment obligations.
- Maintain accurate vendor records and resolve invoice or payment discrepancies.
- Ensure timely, professional responses to vendor inquiries and internal accounting requests.
- Review credit card transactions, employee expenses, and supporting documentation.
- Work closely with internal teams and external vendors to keep financial operations running smoothly.
Technology & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, documentation, and internal controls.
- Use AI tools, including Claude, to help automate repetitive accounting tasks and improve day-to-day processes.
- Maintain and improve financial SOPs across multiple business entities.
- Support the effective use of NetSuite and other financial systems, identifying opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist with cash flow reporting, forecasts, and other financial analysis as needed.
- Partner with the CFO/COO on special projects and other accounting priorities as needed.
- Maintain appropriate controls and confidentiality when working with financial data and AI tools.
About You
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including month-end close and general ledger responsibilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience working with multiple business entities or business units.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.
- Experience preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations.
- Hands-on experience with accounts payable and financial operations.
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial reporting.
- Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system.
- Comfortable learning new software and using modern tools to solve problems.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage deadlines independently.
- Excellent communication skills and sound judgment when handling confidential financial information.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a private equity-backed company.
- Familiarity with Ramp, Tipalti, or similar financial platforms.
- Experience supporting external audits.
- CPA or CPA-track experience.
