Job Summary Overview

The Financial Analyst supports the Finance Department through recurring financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, profitability analysis, financial modeling, liquidity management, asset/liability management (ALM), interest rate risk (IRR) analysis, pricing analysis, and other analytical initiatives.

Working under the direction of the VP of Finance and in partnership with the Strategic Finance Manager, the Financial Analyst prepares reports, analyzes financial and operational data, develops financial models, supports forecasting activities, and assists with enterprise decision-making through accurate and timely analysis. The position provides support for management reporting, ALCO reporting, Board reporting, budgeting, profitability analysis, liquidity management, capital planning, enterprise risk reporting, and other Finance Department responsibilities.

The Financial Analyst is expected to develop analytical expertise across multiple Finance disciplines while providing professional and timely support to internal business partners.

Essential Job Functions

Collaborates across business lines and communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Assists in preparing timely and accurate financial reports for management, committees, and the Board of Directors.

Assists in the preparation of monthly financial reporting packages, ALCO materials, pricing analyses, investment reporting, profitability reporting, and other recurring Finance deliverables.

Performs income and expense variance analysis and assists with earnings, balance sheet, capital, and liquidity forecasting.

Supports product, channel, portfolio, and organizational profitability reporting and analysis.

Supports pricing analysis and recommendation development for deposit, lending, and fee-based products.

Assists with business case development, ROI analysis, financial feasibility studies, and scenario modeling for products, projects, and strategic initiatives.

Supports liquidity management activities through daily, monthly, and quarterly cash flow forecasting and monitoring.

Assists with ALM and IRR modeling, including data preparation, validation, assumption maintenance, documentation, and results analysis.

Supports investment accounting, investment reporting, collateral maintenance, and related reconciliations.

Assists in the annual budgeting process, ongoing financial forecasting, and budget reporting.

Develops and maintains financial models, reports, dashboards, and analytical tools used to support decision making.

Validates source data, investigates variances and anomalies, and maintains appropriate documentation supporting Finance processes and analyses.

Assists with enterprise risk reporting, CECL monitoring, audit support, regulatory examinations, policy reviews, and other compliance-related activities.

Cross-trains across Finance Department responsibilities and provides backup support for recurring functions.

Acquires and applies knowledge of the credit union, its products, systems, and processes to resolve issues and deliver high-quality work product.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Position Required Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related field and one (1) to three (3) years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, auditing, banking, credit unions, or a comparable analytical role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Knowledge of financial analysis, accounting principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Ability to analyze large datasets, identify patterns, trends, and anomalies, and communicate findings clearly.

Ability to build, maintain, validate, and document financial models used for forecasting, budgeting, profitability analysis, liquidity management, and strategic decision support.

  • Ability to develop reports, dashboards, and recurring analytical processes.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Licenses, Training, and Certifications Required

None.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a credit union, bank, or other financial institution.

Experience with budgeting, forecasting, profitability analysis, pricing analysis, financial modeling, or business case development.

Experience with Power BI, SQL, data visualization tools, or similar analytical platforms.

Experience with Empyrean, Symitar, Jack Henry, Great Plains, Visible Equity, Acumatica, or related financial reporting systems.

Experience with ALM modeling applications.

Experience supporting investment accounting, investment reporting, collateral reporting, or fixed-income portfolio analytics.

Experience preparing analysis, reports, or presentation materials for management committees, executive leadership, or Boards of Directors.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or sit; use hands to finger keys accurately when using calculator machines or computer keyboards. The noise level in the work environment is quiet. Must be able to travel independently to department and branch locations.
