Responsibilities

We are seeking a detail-oriented Business Analyst to support underwriting and operations through data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting. This role will work extensively with large Excel datasets from vendors, insureds, and internal systems to ensure data accuracy, identify discrepancies, and take a fresh perspective on revamping processes and reporting. Experience in commercial insurance, particularly PEO or workers' compensation is preferred but training is available.

Key Functions/Duties of Position: Describe the overall job responsibilities (including any decision-making authority) for this position.

Reconcile large datasets between vendors, insureds, and internal systems, investigating and resolving variances.

Analyze payroll, premium, claims, and operational data to ensure completeness and accuracy.

Develop and maintain recurring and ad hoc reports using Excel, Power BI, and other reporting tools.

Create dashboards and performance metrics for underwriting, operations, and executive leadership.

Manage relationships with external vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of data.

Partner with underwriting, actuarial, finance, and operations teams to improve data quality and reporting processes.

Identify trends, anomalies, and work opportunities for process improvement through data analysis.

Document reporting procedures and data validation controls.

  • 5-10% travel to our vendors and home office throughout the year
  • Actively engage with mentors to learn the PEO and workers compensation business
  • Pursuing continuing education in Data Analytics such as the PCPA or other AI and data certifications.

Qualifications

Education Requirement

Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, or related field. A Business or Finance degree is acceptable with experience in the above data fields.

  • Qualifications: Include necessary skills/experience and core competencies required
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, Power Query, XLOOKUP, and data modeling.
  • Experience reconciling large and complex datasets.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commercial insurance, PEO, or workers' compensation experience preferred.
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, and databricks preferred.
