Job Summary

Leonardo DRS is seeking a strategic, detail-oriented Principal Program Financial Analyst to help drive financial performance across mission-critical naval power programs. In this high-impact role, you will partner closely with program management, engineering, operations, contracts, and business leadership to deliver disciplined financial planning, insightful analysis, and sound decision support for programs that help power and protect the U.S. Navy.

This is an opportunity to apply deep program finance expertise to complex defense programs while shaping outcomes that matter to our customers, our business, and the warfighters who rely on our technology.

This role is hybrid - work 2 days onsite and the balance of week from home.What You Will Do

Lead financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analysis for assigned naval power programs and portfolios.

Serve as a trusted finance business partner to Program Managers, providing timely insight into program performance, risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.

Develop and maintain program financial baselines, including budgets, forecasts, Estimates at Completion (EAC), cash-flow projections, and profitability analyses.

Analyze actual performance against plan; identify material variances and clearly communicate drivers, trends, and recommended actions to leadership.

Support monthly and quarterly business rhythms, including program reviews, financial close, operating plan development, and long-range planning.

Prepare and present clear, decision-ready financial reporting for program and executive leadership.

Support proposal pricing, cost-volume development, and financial assessments for new business opportunities and program changes.

Ensure adherence to internal controls, government contracting requirements, company policies, and applicable accounting standards.

Partner with cross-functional teams to strengthen financial processes, improve data quality, and enhance program performance visibility.

Mentor and provide technical guidance to finance team members as appropriate.

Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related discipline; advanced degree or professional certification is a plus.

Significant progressive experience (8+ years) in program finance, financial planning and analysis, or project controls - referably within aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or another complex, regulated environment.

Demonstrated ability to manage financial performance across complex, multi-year programs.

Strong knowledge of forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, earned value concepts, cost accounting, and financial reporting.

Experience supporting government contracts and familiarity with FAR/DFARS, CAS, EAC, and defense-program financial requirements is strongly preferred.

Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP, planning, reporting, and business intelligence tools.

Ability to translate complex financial data into concise, actionable recommendations for technical and business leaders.

Strong judgment, accountability, communication skills, and the ability to influence across functions without direct authority.
