Position Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A supports budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and decision support for an assigned ATSG business unit or corporate function. This position prepares the financial plan and recurring management reporting for its area, performs the variance and driver analysis that explains results in operating terms, and provides the analysis behind operational, commercial, and capital decisions.

The role may be assigned to an airline, leasing, maintenance, logistics, or corporate finance team, and applies ATSG’s planning standards, key performance indicator definitions, and reporting templates in any setting. The Senior Financial Analyst works directly with operating and finance leaders, is expected to work independently with limited direction, and serves as a resource to analysts on the team.

Key Responsibilities

Budgeting, Forecasting, and Planning

  • Build and maintain driver-based financial models that connect operating statistics to financial results, without reliance on a pre-existing template
  • Gather, validate, and challenge inputs and assumptions from operating and finance stakeholders, and document the basis for each
  • Prepare long-range plan, scenario, and sensitivity analysis for the assigned area
  • Track and report forecast accuracy, identify sources of recurring variance, and drive improvement
  • Manage submission deadlines and review milestones against the enterprise planning calendar, and maintain version control of planning files and outputs

Reporting and Variance Analysis

  • Own the recurring monthly and quarterly reporting package for the assigned area, including financial statements, key performance indicators, variance schedules, and supporting exhibits
  • Perform variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior periods, with clear attribution to operating driver rather than to account
  • Draft written variance commentary and analytical narrative suitable for an executive audience
  • Prepare business unit or functional content for executive, Board, ownership, and lender reporting in coordination with Corporate FP&A, Treasury, and the Controller organization
  • Maintain reporting templates and support consistency of presentation across periods

Decision Support

  • Lead financial analysis supporting operational, commercial, and capital decisions, including cost, pricing, contract, staffing, utilization, and fleet questions
  • Prepare and review business cases and capital requests, including returns analysis, and support the capital approval process
  • Quantify and validate the financial impact of cost reduction, productivity, and margin improvement initiatives, applying established validation standards, and track realization against commitments
  • Perform post-implementation reviews comparing actual performance to business case assumptions
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis at the request of finance and operating leadership

Data, Systems, and Process

  • Extract, reconcile, and validate financial and operational data from the enterprise resource planning environment and business unit source systems
  • Apply the ATSG key performance indicator dictionary, standard definitions, and reporting templates consistently, and contribute to their development
  • Support the annual budget build within the enterprise planning platform, including template build, testing, and end-user support
  • Reduce manual and spreadsheet-dependent effort through automation, standardization, and documentation of recurring processes
  • Partner with the Controller organization on accrual, allocation, and close-related matters affecting reported results
  • Serve as a resource to analysts on modeling technique, standard templates, and reporting requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, or accounting
  • Demonstrated experience owning a budget or forecast for a business unit, function, or multi-entity organization
  • Demonstrated experience building financial models from source data without a pre-existing template
  • Demonstrated experience preparing recurring reporting and analysis for senior leadership
  • Experience working with operational data and translating operating drivers into financial outcomes
  • Strong financial modeling capability, including driver-based forecasting, scenario analysis, and variance decomposition
  • Working knowledge of financial statements and the relationship between the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with the judgment to distinguish material drivers from noise
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to construct a clear narrative from complex financial data
  • High standard of accuracy and intellectual honesty, including the willingness to identify and escalate errors and to challenge submissions constructively
  • Ability to manage a demanding recurring reporting calendar alongside project and process improvement work
  • Ability to work independently and to influence finance and operating personnel who do not report to this position
