In this role, you will focus on leveraging Walmart data through the Scintilla platform, serving as a strategic partner to our planning, buying, allocation, inventory, and merchandising teams. We are looking for someone who loves discovering ways to answer new kinds of questions using new kinds of data and teaching others how to do the same. Daily responsibilities include designing dashboards, generating reports, querying our Snowflake data warehouse with SQL to maintain strict data integrity standards, and delivering actionable data-driven recommendations across critical functions such as Gross Margin Return on Investment (GMROI), Product Lifecycle & Markdown Cadence, Assortment Planning & Hierarchy, Seasonality and Core vs. Fashion, Open-to-Buy (OTB) Logic, Exception-Based Reporting, WSSI Mechanics, and Historical Normalization. As part of our forward-thinking environment, you will also leverage modern AI workflow and vibe coding tools (such as AI code assistants) to accelerate analytics and streamline business intelligence operations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret Walmart data using the Scintilla platform to support demand planning, merchandise planning, and inventory allocation strategies.
  • Proactively discover innovative ways to answer complex business questions using novel datasets, while mentoring and teaching team members to adopt new analytical approaches.
  • Develop analytical models and reports to track and evaluate Gross Margin Return on Investment (GMROI) across categories and channels.
  • Build tools to analyze Product Lifecycle & Markdown Cadence, Assortment Planning & Hierarchy, Seasonality and Core vs. Fashion, Open-to-Buy (OTB) Logic, Exception-Based Reporting, WSSI Mechanics, and Historical Normalization.
  • Write and execute SQL queries in modern cloud data platforms (such as Snowflake) to audit metrics, validate data from the data warehouse, and resolve anomalies (Note: role does not involve data migration tasks).
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports (preferably in Looker) to communicate Walmart Scintilla insights to key internal stakeholders.
  • Rigorously validate data integrity standards across raw data and audit AI-generated query outputs to ensure absolute metric precision.
  • Collaborate directly with business analysts, executive leadership, and departmental stakeholders to translate data into actionable business strategy.
  • Schedule, monitor, and deliver executive-level reporting and ad-hoc analytics as required.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (Minimum Requirements)

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Finance, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related business discipline.
  • Strong background in merchandise, demand, or inventory planning within retail, wholesale, or consumer goods environments.
  • Hands-on experience or deep familiarity with Walmart data ecosystems and the Walmart Scintilla analytics platform.
  • Solid proficiency in SQL for querying and validating data stored within cloud data warehouses.
  • Hands-on experience working with modern data platforms such as Snowflake.
  • Demonstrated experience with modern reporting tools (strong preference for Looker; Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools are acceptable).
  • Familiarity with AI tools and modern AI workflows (e.g., code assist, vibe coding for BI) to increase productivity.
  • Proven ability to translate complex datasets into strategic commercial insights for planning, allocation, inventory, and executive leadership teams.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases, dimensional data models, semantic layers, and metric governance.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem solving skills to audit underlying query logic and resolve data anomalies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to present data stories effectively to non-technical business partners.
  • Curious and collaborative mindset with a passion for uncovering insights from novel data sources and teaching colleagues how to leverage new analytical tools and methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications (Plusses)

  • Industry experience in Fashion, Apparel, Retail, E-commerce, Wholesale, or Supply Chain functions.
  • Deep understanding of retail and supply chain domain metrics (e.g., sell-through rates, inventory turn, lead times, procurement, wholesale vs. DTC performance).
  • Exposure to ERP systems (e.g., Shopify, NetSuite, Jesta, Oracle Retail).
  • Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages for data analysis (nice to have / good to know).
