DATA ANALYST

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Serve as the division's Data Analyst, accountable for translating internal business data and external market data into reliable analytics, Power BI reporting, and internal application features that management and cross-functional stakeholders rely on to make decisions. The position interprets complex data from multiple internal and external sources, evaluates alternatives, and recommends solutions that improve reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and business insight across the Sales, Marketing, and Technical Service functions. Application development is performed within the division's existing application environment — building and maintaining pages and features on the established stack.

The analyst independently owns analytics and reporting deliverables end-to-end, takes on complex data and reporting work, resolves non-routine data and integration problems with limited approval, and provides recommendations that management relies on for reporting and process decisions. Application development is limited to building and maintaining pages and features on the division's existing stack.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Own the design, accuracy, and integrity of the division's Power BI data models and reporting layer — determining data model structure, authoring production DAX logic, and validating that reported figures are correct and decision-ready for management.
  • Own the development and accuracy of Power BI reporting on external market and trade data — sourced from industry and market-intelligence providers such as Plastics News, Datamyne, and similar services — integrating these sources into Power BI, interpreting pricing, import/export, and market trends, and presenting insights that inform commercial and business-development decisions.
  • Own the integrity and reliability of ETL/data-integration pipelines that consolidate data from multiple internal and external sources (Azure SQL, spreadsheets, and external market-data feeds such as Plastics News and Datamyne), investigating and resolving data-quality and reconciliation issues that are not governed by a standard procedure.
  • Independently own analytics and reporting deliverables end-to-end — from requirements analysis through build, validation, and stakeholder delivery — exercising discretion over scope, approach, and prioritization; sets own timeline and method for standard deliverables, and raises resourcing conflicts or scope changes affecting other functions to the Manager.
  • Recommend reporting design direction and delivery priorities in planning discussions, evaluating alternatives and advising on solutions that management and business partners rely on for analytics and reporting decisions.

Application Development

  • Build and maintain internal application pages and features within the division's existing application environment (React / TypeScript front end, consuming existing REST APIs), delivering well-defined features to meet business requirements with moderate supervision.
  • Follow the division's established application patterns, standards, and code-review process; test changes and apply feedback, working under the guidance of more senior developers on non-routine design decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous Related Experience Required

  • Demonstrated experience independently designing and maintaining Power BI data models and reports used by business stakeholders for decision-making.
  • Experience building application pages and features and data integrations within an existing application environment (SQL databases, existing REST APIs, and multiple data sources) with moderate supervision.
  • Track record of investigating and resolving non-routine data-quality, reconciliation, or integration issues and recommending corrective actions.

Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job

  • Ability to independently analyze business requirements, evaluate alternative approaches, and determine an appropriate technical solution with limited supervision.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Power BI (data modeling, DAX, Power Query); working proficiency in front-end development (React / TypeScript) sufficient to build pages and features within an existing application and consume existing REST APIs.
  • Ability to interpret complex, multi-source data — rather than only compile it — and to identify trends, variances, and root causes that inform recommendations to management.
  • Experience building ETL/data-integration pipelines across enterprise sources (Azure SQL, spreadsheets, and other systems) and resolving non-routine data-quality and reconciliation issues.
  • Familiarity with external market and trade-data sources (e.g., Plastics News, Datamyne) and the ability to acquire, integrate, and report on them in Power BI for market and competitive analysis.
  • Experience applying AI tools and workflow-automation solutions — including AI agents and integrations with CRM, ERP, databases, and APIs — to improve reporting and business processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present analysis and recommendations to management and cross-functional stakeholders.

Education (Minimal Education Needed)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics,Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant analytics experience.
