Summary: The Business Systems & Data Analyst works cross-functionally to improve how Cobalt Truck Equipment uses business processes, systems, and data. This role partners with department leaders and employees to understand current workflows, identify process and data defects, improve existing solutions, and help evaluate or implement replacement solutions when current processes or systems no longer meet the needs of the business. A major focus of the position is making operational data more accessible, reliable, and useful to management through business intelligence and performance analytics. The analyst will work across the company’s SQL-backed ERP, Salesforce, SharePoint, and other business applications, with Power BI serving as a primary reporting and analytics platform. This is not simply a reporting position; the analyst is expected to understand the business behind the data and help turn findings into practical improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with leaders across Sales, Operations, Accounting, Purchasing, and other functions to understand business processes, information needs, pain points, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Document current-state workflows, business rules, data sources, handoffs, dependencies, and recurring process defects to make complex processes easier to understand and improve.
  • Perform root-cause analysis to distinguish process problems from system limitations, data-quality issues, training or adoption gaps, and unclear ownership.
  • Recommend practical improvements to existing processes and systems, and assist in evaluating replacement solutions when existing approaches no longer meet business needs.
  • Translate business needs into clear requirements for system changes, reporting, automation, integrations, and process improvements; coordinate testing and validation with users, IT, vendors, and developers.
  • Support continuous improvement of business systems including the company’s ERP, Salesforce, SharePoint, TEQuote, and related applications.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards using approved data sources including SQL, Salesforce, SharePoint, and other business systems.
  • Work with management to define useful operational KPIs, consistent business definitions, and reporting that helps leaders understand performance, identify exceptions and bottlenecks, and determine where action is needed.
  • Validate data accuracy, investigate discrepancies between systems or reports, and help improve data accessibility and reliability across the organization.
  • Reduce dependence on manually assembled spreadsheets and disconnected reporting by establishing repeatable, supportable reporting and analysis where practical.
  • Maintain structured improvement and defect backlogs, track completed changes, and measure results to determine whether improvements addressed the original business problem.
  • Provide management with objective process and performance information that supports coaching, operational improvement, and organizational change while keeping performance-management decisions with department leadership.
  • Help establish the data and process foundation required for future operational initiatives, including improved inventory planning and just-in-time inventory strategies.
  • Analyze how information related to sales demand, quoting, inventory, purchasing, work orders, production, and other operational processes moves through the organization and identify gaps that limit timely, reliable decision-making.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Two (2) or more years of relevant experience in business analysis, data analysis, business intelligence, business systems, process improvement, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather requirements, analyze business processes, identify root causes, and translate business questions into actionable analysis or system improvements.
  • Experience developing reports, dashboards, data models, or business intelligence solutions used to support operational decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of relational data and SQL, including the ability to query, join, aggregate, and interpret data from business systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical employees across departments.
  • Ability to organize ambiguous problems, manage multiple improvement efforts, document findings clearly, and follow changes through testing and validation.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, including Power Query, data modeling, DAX, and dashboard development.
  • Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server or other relational database platforms.
  • Experience with Salesforce reporting, data structures, objects, relationships, or business workflows.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Lists, Excel, Power Automate, or Power Apps.
  • Experience supporting ERP, CRM, workflow automation, integration, or other business-critical platforms.
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, inventory, purchasing, production, quoting, or order-management environments.
  • Ability to communicate complex findings in clear business terms and work with leaders to define measures that support continuous improvement.
