Position Summary
The HR Generalist serves as a trusted partner to management, providing guidance, advice and support on all HR matters, including full-cycle recruiting, leave management, performance management, etc. Building trusted relationships and exercising good judgement, they work effectively across the organization bringing people together to build solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide full-cycle recruitment services including the creation and coordination of job postings, conducting phone and in-person interviews, preparing and presenting offer packages, completing background checks and conducting new teammate orientation and onboarding.
Engage in high volume seasonal recruitment and onboarding for summer camps and other seasonal positions (interns and sport instructors).
Manage and resolve employee relations issues; under the oversight of the VP of Human Resources, conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations as required.
Provide performance management guidance to line management (e.g. coaching, counseling, career development and disciplinary actions); facilitate the performance evaluation process.
Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention.
Act as primary point of contact to employees and managers of assigned business unit, building credibility.
Submitting workers' compensation claims in the event of teammate injury.
Deliver training programs to ensure success; follow up to ensure training objectives are met.
Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to employment law, reducing risk and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Lead employee engagement initiatives; facilitate a positive culture, employee job satisfaction and company loyalty.
Provide support and guidance to employees and managers regarding the time-tracking, vacation, sick and other various systems and processes.
Ensure employee files and records are properly and securely maintained.
Comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) while performing all duties.
- Maintain a positive attitude and adhere to the Cooper purpose and core values.
- Follow all Cooper policies and standard operating procedures.
- Complete duties on site with consistent regular and reliable attendance
- Accomplish other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in business or related field and 3+ years of related experience at the generalist level; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- SHRM and/or HRCI certification is preferred/encouraged; CEBS certification a plus.
- Must have thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations.
- Strong employee relations and engagement skills.
- Strong PC, writing, analytical and HRIS skills.
- Ability to multi-task with limited resources and manage multiple competing priorities.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Frequently required to stand and walk around campus.
