POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Title: HR Generalist
  • Reports to: Division Controller
  • Department: HR/Accounting

Position Purpose

Administers the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) Department, including but not limited to recruiting and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and procedures. Additional administrative support to the Accounting Department as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Tasks related to this salaried-exempt position may vary and are not limited to those listed below:

Follows established safety rules and procedures at all times.

Assumes primary responsibility for administering health and welfare plans, including timely benefit enrollments, changes and terminations.

Maintains associate data and documents in HRIS/Payroll system (UKG), including but not limited to new hire and termination checklists.

Lead BCI Wooster’s and BCI Indianapolis’ recruiting efforts to attract and retain the right people, including occasional travel (<10%).

Collaborates with Division Controller to administer leaves of absence to comply with employment laws and company policy.

Processes and administers unemployment and workers’ compensation claims with the insurance provider and/or relevant state agency.

Assists with workplace investigations and completing incident reports as needed.

Assists with preparation of performance review process and development of training materials.

Works with Division Controller to administer required drug and alcohol screenings through third party screening vendors per company policy.

Administers wellness initiatives and helps promote and organize annual health fair event.

Collaborates with management/hiring teams on associate recruitment, talent acquisition, training, development, performance management, discipline and terminations.

Assists associates with day-to-day HR requests and helps resolve workplace issues.

Conducts timely and thorough pre-employment screening and associate onboarding, creating a welcoming and informative experience for new hires.

  • Administers BCI Associate Handbook policies and periodic updates.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal employment laws and company HR policies.

Processes hourly associate payroll weekly and collaborates with Division Controller to maintain accurate work schedules and attendance records in UKG.

Assists Division Controller with tracking and monitoring temp worker labor hours consistent with company policy.

Coordinates travel accommodations for visitors.

Provides administrative support to the general office and Accounting Department (e.g., accounts payable and accounts receivable), as needed.

  • Functions well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications Desired

Minimum of 2-5 years of professional-level HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.

  • Associate degree in business administration, HR management or related field.
  • SHRM or equivalent HR certification preferred.
