Human Resources Generalist
Hanes Companies, Inc., a division of Leggett & Platt, is seeking a Human Resources Generalist in Winston-Salem, NC. With more than 50 locations across North America, Hanes Companies is a leading distributor and converter of industrial textiles, environmentally friendly geosynthetics, erosion-control products, and stabilization products used in the construction industry. This role will serve as a trusted HR partner to employees and leaders, with an active presence on the plant floor and responsibility for supporting a broad range of human resources functions.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Serve as the primary HR resource for employees and managers at the Winston-Salem facility and assigned branch locations.
Build strong relationships with plant leadership and employees to help foster a positive, productive work environment.
Manage full-cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried positions, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
Facilitate new-hire orientation and coordinate onboarding for employees and temporary workers.
Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, attendance concerns, and policy interpretation.
Support the administration of FMLA, leaves of absence, workers' compensation, employee benefits, and employee engagement programs.
Assist managers with coaching, conflict resolution, workplace investigations, and documentation of employee matters.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HRIS data.
- Support HR reporting, workforce planning, and broader organizational initiatives.
Participate in safety programs, training efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
Partner with leadership to strengthen retention, employee development, and workplace culture.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
Working knowledge of employment laws, employee relations, benefits administration, FMLA, ADA, and workers' compensation.
- Experience supporting performance management and conducting employee investigations.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to build relationships and influence individuals at all levels of the organization.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and human resources information systems.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and confidentiality.
