This position is ideal for an HR professional with 2–5 years of experience who has built a solid foundation in human resources and is ready to broaden their experience and take greater ownership. Reporting directly to the HR Director, the HR Generalist will support recruiting, onboarding, benefits, employee engagement, and day-to-day HR operations.

This hands-on role offers the opportunity to support employees today while helping build the HR practices Verogy will need as we continue to grow.

This role offers a flexible hybrid schedule, with the HR team generally working from the West Hartford office two days per week.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as an approachable first point of contact for employee questions related to HR policies, benefits, programs, and processes.
  • Support the full recruiting lifecycle, including job description creation, job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, offers, and pre-employment activities.
  • Coordinate new-hire onboarding and help create a consistent 30/60/90-day onboarding experience across the organization.
  • Support federal, state, and local employment compliance by monitoring regulatory updates, assisting with corresponding policy and process changes, and maintaining required documentation related to multi-state hiring and employment practices.
  • Support employee changes and offboarding, including documentation, communications, HRIS updates, and exit processes.
  • Assist with benefits administration, open enrollment, employee leaves, and coordination with external vendors.
  • Support annual performance reviews, goal-setting, performance documentation, and other performance-management processes.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, HRIS data, personnel documents, and compliance records.
  • Help maintain and improve HR policies, procedures, job descriptions, forms, templates, and manager resources.
  • Support employee engagement, recognition, company events, employee communications, and feedback initiatives.
  • Assist with workforce-planning activities, organizational charts, job descriptions, and tracking evolving staffing needs.
  • Participate in HR projects focused on improving processes, manager tools, employee experience, career development, and overall HR operations.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 2–5 years of professional HR experience, ideally with exposure to multiple areas of human resources.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of core HR practices, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits, employee records, performance management, and employment compliance.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Sound judgment with the ability to work independently while knowing when to ask questions or escalate an issue.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with employees, managers, and external partners.
  • Comfortable balancing recurring responsibilities with changing priorities and HR projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and experience working with BambooHR, ADP, or other similar HRIS and payroll systems.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting employees in multiple states.
  • Experience with BambooHR or a comparable HRIS.
  • Exposure to benefits administration, leave administration, performance reviews, employee relations, or HR compliance.
  • Experience within a growing, project-based, engineering, construction, clean-energy, or professional services organization.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification, or interest in pursuing an HR certification.
