Position Summary

Our HR team is seeking an organized, collaborative HR Generalist to support employees and leadership through recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, leave administration, and employee relations. Each generalist manages assigned responsibilities while maintaining broad HR knowledge to provide coverage and support the department. The ideal candidate demonstrates sound judgment, confidentiality, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities with dependable follow-through.

Location and Schedule

  • Location: 2428 W Reynolds Avenue Centralia, WA 98531
  • FTE/Hours: 1.0FTE (40-hours)

Schedule: Monday - Friday; start and end times may be flexible based on department needs and supervisor approval. HR office hours are currently Monday - Thursday 7am-4pm & Friday 8am-12:00pm.

Pay Range

$31.26 - $40.02; starting rate depends on experience and education.

Qualifications

At least three years of human resources experience required; experience across multiple HR functions preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Management, or related field preferred.

Payroll processing experience preferred, with the ability to learn and independently perform full-cycle payroll following training.

Must be able to pass WA State Patrol background check. A national background check may be required if haven’t lived in WA State for the last 3 consecutive years.

Ability to represent Cascade in a positive and professional manner and demonstrate the competencies listed above.

Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and a professional approach to conflict resolution.

Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned work, and collaborate closely with the HR team.

Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate promptly when additional support or direction is needed.

  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and dependable follow-through on time-sensitive tasks.
  • Ability to recognize complex or sensitive issues and seek appropriate guidance.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret information and review numerical data.

Working knowledge of federal and Washington employment laws, with the ability to research requirements and seek guidance.

Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality and respond constructively to feedback.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn HRIS; includes payroll and applicant tracking systems.

What You'll Do

Provides timely, respectful service and HR guidance to applicants, employees, and leadership; refers complex or sensitive matters to the Chief People Officer.

Manages assigned HR functions, participates in cross-training, and provides coverage during staff absences and changes in department workload.

Coordinates recruiting activities, including job postings, applicant communication, interview scheduling, and hiring support.

Coordinates background checks and employment eligibility verification; conducts new hire orientation and supports onboarding and employee separations.

Participates in full-cycle payroll and independently processes payroll on rotation with HR staff, following established procedures and review requirements.

Administers employee benefits, including health, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, life and disability insurance, COBRA, 401(k), and wellness programs.

Administers assigned employee leave processes, including tracking, documentation, employee communication, and coordination of benefits during leave.

Maintains accurate, confidential personnel records and HRIS data; processes personnel changes and prepares HR reports.

Reviews and responds to unemployment claims with supporting documentation. Participate in unemployment hearings as assigned.

Tracks and documents employee training, continuing education, professional licensure, and certification requirements.

Supports employee relations, performance management, disciplinary meetings, investigations, and terminations under the direction of the Chief People Officer.

Supports compliance with federal, Washington State, and local employment requirements; identifies concerns and assists with policy and procedure updates.

Plans and participates in employee recognition programs, HR activities, and events; supports assigned safety and training programs.

Maintains current HR knowledge and identifies opportunities to improve department processes and service.

Performs other duties related to supporting the Human Resources Department as assigned.

Medical coverage is available to employees working at least 0.75 FTE (30 hours per week) and is effective the first of the month following the date of hire. Employees working at least 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week) are eligible for all other applicable benefits.

Voluntary benefits: Supplemental term life insurance, legal services, fraud and identity protection, HSA, FSA, dependent care FSA, and pet insurance, subject to applicable plan terms.

Retirement benefits: After six months of employment, Cascade contributes 5% of your gross earnings to a 401(k) each month—no employee contribution or match is required.
