About the employer
Cars & Bids
Cars & Bids has daily auctions of the coolest enthusiast vehicles
Cars & Bids is the best online auction marketplace to buy and sell enthusiast cars – and that means pretty much anything that’s cool from any era. To us, “cool” ranges from the obvious (a Ferrari F355 or a Lamborghini Gallardo) to the esoteric (a pristine Dodge Dakota Convertible or a Mercury Capri XR2) to the traditional fun cars that enthusiasts love (a Mazda MX-5 Miata or a Porsche 911). Basically, everything that’s exciting, fun, interesting, or quirky is welcome here!

About the role
We're hiring a Lifecycle Marketing Manager to join our growth marketing team.
More than a million people use our platform. They're buyers, sellers, browsers, community members, and plenty of things in between. We want each of them to get the content, information, and messaging they want to see, at the moment they want to see it, and the Lifecycle Marketing Manager sits at the core of that work.
You'll own lifecycle and email marketing for both sides of our marketplace, from someone's first visit, to their first bid or first listing, to the car after that. You'll design the journeys, build the segments and workflows behind them, write the messages, and keep improving them once they're live. HubSpot will be your command center, but you will also be expected to regularly use our proprietary software and other toolsl.
This role suits a technical marketer who also loves to write. A typical day could involve sketching out a seller journey, connecting a workflow to another tool with a webhook, and editing copy for an A/B test. You'll be responsible for launching, monitoring, and testing user journeys end to end, and for reporting on what they did for submissions and sales.
We're a consumer business, but a lot of our work will feel familiar to B2B marketers. Sellers move through a real pipeline with real people on our team helping them along, and part of sending the right message is knowing when to hand someone off to an Auction Manager. If you've done lifecycle in B2B, you'll feel right at home, and if you've done it in both worlds, even better.
What you'll do
- Own all email marketing at Cars & Bids, from automated lifecycle flows to newsletters, promotions, and event sends
- Map, build, and run buyer and seller journeys in HubSpot: onboarding, seller education, submission, re-engagement, repeat sellers, bidder activation, and post-sale
- Build segments from how people actually use the site (what they watch, bid on, submit, and sell), along with the dynamic content that goes with them
- Write the copy, from full emails down to the short, well-timed nudges that get someone to finish what they started
- Build workflows that branch across our product and tools, using custom code, APIs, and webhooks when HubSpot alone can't get it done
- Connect customers to our sales and auction teams at the right moment, and help keep the seller pipeline in HubSpot clean and moving
- Own deliverability and list health
- Test everything, and report results in submissions, sales, and activity on the site
What We're Looking For
- 4-7 years in lifecycle, CRM, or marketing automation, owning programs end to end
- Deep HubSpot experience: complex branching workflows, custom properties and objects, custom code, and API and webhook integrations with other tools
- Startup experience. You're used to building something and then running it yourself
- Strong segmentation instincts, and comfort working with data and engineering on how the data gets to you
- You write well and quickly, and you can shift your tone for a first-time seller, a longtime bidder, or a dealer
- Deliverability experience at scale
- A habit of tying every program back to a business result
- B2B background preferred, B2C a plus
- A passion for cars
Nice to have
- SQL
- Two-sided marketplace, auction, or automotive experience
- SMS and push
- Experience connecting HubSpot to a data warehouse, or with reverse ETL
Why Cars & Bids
We're a small, dedicated team with a big reach, and we're just getting started. We're all car enthusiasts from different walks of life. If you love cars and you're an exceptional lifecycle marketer, this is your dream job.
Here's what you can expect when you join us:
- Real ownership of a channel that drives the business, with your work showing up directly in submissions and sales
- A team of fellow car lovers who take pride in their work and care about great customer experiences
- True remote flexibility, competitive compensation, equity, and room to grow
Sound Like a Good Fit?
Send us your resume. A cover letter is optional, and so are these two questions, though we'd love to read your answers:
- Do you have a passion for cars? Tell us a little more.
- What's your favorite lifecycle program you've built? Give us three short bullets on what it was and why it's your favorite.
If your application stands out, we'll send over a few more quick questions before interviews start.
