What You'll Do
Avalara needs a Senior Product Manager, Tax Technology - Workday Connectors to improve Workday connector implementations by closing the gap between customer field reality and core product requirements. This role brings product management closer to customer deployments by observing real Workday Financials workflows, legacy system constraints, indirect tax needs, and integration blockers.
The role translates field findings into clear product requirements that help customers reach value faster. It works with implementation, onboarding, sales, field engineering, and solution consulting teams to identify repeatable deployment patterns, reduce avoidable blockers, and improve production readiness for Workday connector customers.
How This Role Elevates Avalara
This role improves Avalara’s ability to deliver Workday connector value in real customer environments. It connects field discovery with core product planning so customer blockers are understood early, translated clearly, and addressed through scalable product improvements.
By improving the feedback loop between customer deployments and product decisions, this role helps reduce implementation friction, improve deployment quality, and make implementation, onboarding, sales, field engineering, and solution consulting teams more effective.
#LI-Remote
What Your Responsibilities Will Be
- Observe customer Workday Financials workflows, legacy systems, indirect tax requirements, and compliance blockers to identify where Workday connector implementations slow down or fail.
- Convert field findings, customer edge cases, and custom configurations into prioritized product requirements for the Workday connector product team.
- Unblock Implementations with configuration guidance
- Partner with field engineering, sales, implementation, and onboarding teams to move pilots and integrations toward production readiness.
- Represent the Workday connector product in customer demos, executive discussions, and deployment decisions.
- Explain product capabilities, tradeoffs, risks, and deployment paths to senior customer and internal stakeholders in clear business and technical terms.
- Build a repeatable field-to-product feedback loop that turns one-off customer constraints into reusable product insights, implementation guidance, and roadmap input.
- Identify artificial intelligence opportunities that help implementers troubleshoot connector errors, understand mapping and configuration patterns, and reuse connector knowledge with less product team support.
- Share deployment learnings with internal teams through knowledge transfers, field notes, playbooks, and reusable guidance.
12-Month Success Signals
- Workday connector implementation cycle time trends down because deployment blockers are identified earlier and product guidance is clearer.
- Repeat deployment blockers decrease because customer edge cases, mapping issues, and configuration patterns are captured and converted into reusable product requirements or implementation guidance.
- The Workday connector product team receives a prioritized field signal backlog based on customer workflows, deployment patterns, and production readiness risks.
- Implementation and onboarding teams resolve more common Workday connector issues without direct product team support.
- Customer demos and executive deployment discussions become more consistent because the role provides clear product messaging, known constraints, and implementation paths.
- Artificial intelligence-assisted troubleshooting concepts for connector errors, mappings, and configuration patterns are defined, tested, or prepared for delivery to improve knowledge reuse and implementer self-service.
What You'll Need to be Successful
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of product management, technical product management, or integration product experience.
- Experience with enterprise software integrations and customer-facing deployment or implementation work.
- Ability to translate customer workflows, technical constraints, and edge cases into clear product requirements.
- Ability to communicate product decisions, deployment risks, and tradeoffs to cross-functional teams.
