Product Manager III, Search Selection and Ranking

Introduction to the Team

The Product Team creates high-quality end-to-end experiences for travelers, partners, and Expedia Group. Our focus on customer-centric innovation enables us to develop products that build loyalty and repeat business. We partner closely with teams across Expedia Group to drive growth and achieve results for our customers and the company.

Make an impact!

We are looking for a Product Manager III to lead selection and ranking for Expedia Group’s Search experiences, helping travelers find the right place to stay, the right flight, or the right trip faster and with more confidence.

Planning a trip can feel overwhelming. A traveler searching for a beach weekend, a family vacation, or a last-minute business stay may face hundreds or thousands of options. What they see first, and what they never see at all, shapes whether they feel understood, find something they love, and book with confidence. Selection decides which options are worth showing, and ranking decides the order that makes the best fit easy to spot.

You will own the roadmap and help shape the product strategy for selection and ranking within Search, with a focus on what travelers actually experience: results that feel relevant to them, fewer dead ends, and a shorter path from search to a trip they are excited about. You will work across Product, Engineering, Data Science, Research, and business stakeholders to deliver that experience consistently across brands, markets, and traveler journeys.

In this role, you will

  • Own the roadmap and delivery for selection and ranking capabilities in Search, shaping product strategy in line with the broader Search and Expedia Group direction.
  • Identify and size opportunities to improve candidate selection, relevance, and ordering using query and session context, traveler behavior, and inventory and content signals.
  • Translate ambiguous traveler and business problems into clear product requirements, measurable outcomes, and a prioritized backlog, and drive them from concept through launch and scale.
  • Partner with Data Science and Machine Learning teams on model objectives, feature priorities, offline and online evaluation frameworks, feedback loops, and responsible use of personalization signals.
  • Work with Engineering and platform teams to define requirements, data contracts, and instrumentation that support multiple brands, markets, and traveler journeys.
  • Own the eligibility, filtering, and guardrail rules that determine which results are shown, and improve them using data and experimentation.
  • Balance traveler value, business impact, partner and supply considerations, technical feasibility, and trust when making prioritization decisions, including tradeoffs between organic relevance and paid or promoted placement.
  • Partner with adjacent teams to align on shared definitions for ranking signals, relevance, and result quality, so that ownership, standards, and measurement are consistent.
  • Define success metrics and guardrails, such as relevance, engagement, progression, conversion, satisfaction, latency, coverage, diversity, and fairness.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative research, experimentation, behavioral data, and operational feedback to identify gaps, diagnose ranking issues, and validate solutions.
  • Build alignment across cross-functional partners and stakeholders, and communicate product direction, progress, and tradeoffs clearly to senior leaders and delivery teams.
  • Contribute to the longer-term evolution of Search toward more adaptive, context-aware, and traveler-centered experiences.

Experience and Qualifications

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; or equivalent related professional experience
  • 5 or more years of product management experience, including end-to-end ownership of a customer-facing product or capability, ideally one backed by data or machine learning
  • Demonstrated experience taking products or major features from concept to scaled adoption, and influencing cross-functional partners without direct authority
  • Data fluency, including the ability to design, run, and interpret experiments and use data analysis to drive product decisions
  • Experience working on machine learning backed products such as search, ranking, or recommendation systems

Preferred qualifications

  • Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools or workflows, and with applying machine learning concepts to real world products
  • Familiarity with search relevance concepts such as retrieval, learning to rank, and offline and online evaluation metrics
  • Experience trading organic relevance against paid or promoted placement, or a comparable commercial tension
