Job Description

Want to start your career in sales by opening doors with utilities that have never worked with Convey? As a Sales Development Representative on our Enterprise and Mid-Market team, you'll start the first conversation with new utility prospects, own outbound prospecting end to end and hand qualified meetings to our Account Executives. You'll also grow through a six-month development program built for early-career professionals. You'll learn from leaders across the company and build a network outside your team. You'll also take ownership of a project that improves how we find and win new customers.

We're hiring two SDRs: one focused on Enterprise Investor-Owned Utilities and one focused on Municipal Utilities and Co-Operatives. This is a new-logo role with no account management and no inbound queue, based on-site in our Denver office five days a week.

What you'll do

  • Run daily outbound across phone, email, LinkedIn and events to book qualified first meetings with utility decision-makers
  • Research assigned accounts, spot buying triggers and tailor outreach to each utility's priorities
  • Build relationships with multiple stakeholders across customer service, billing, communications and IT
  • Qualify interest and hand well-documented opportunities to Account Executives
  • Keep Salesforce accurate and current, including activity, notes and next steps
  • Use sales engagement and buying-signal tools to prioritize accounts and sharpen your sequences
  • Work with your Account Executive on target lists, messaging and event follow-up
  • Hit weekly and monthly targets for activity, qualified meetings booked and pipeline created

Your first six months

Through the Emerging Talent Program, you'll:

  • Start strong. Meet with your manager before your first day to set goals for Days 30 to 180. In your first week you'll have onboarding sessions, meet your team and have lunch with your cohort.
  • Learn from Convey leaders. Join the monthly Foundations Series with your cohort. Topics include succeeding in your first professional role, building your network and making an impact. You'll also meet our CEO.
  • Lead an ET Impact Project. Find a real opportunity to improve something in Sales, such as prospecting workflows, messaging or account research. Plan and run the project with stakeholders, and present your results to Convey leaders at the ET Impact Showcase.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 2 years of experience in sales, business development or another customer-facing role; internships count
  • Strong written and verbal communication; you write clearly and sound confident on the phone
  • Resilience and discipline, including treating rejection as data and keeping your pace
  • Curiosity about utilities, energy or regulated industries; prior exposure is a plus, not a requirement
  • Comfort with Salesforce or another CRM, or the ability to learn one quickly
  • Ability to work on-site in our Denver office five days a week

What success looks like

You'll book qualified meetings that turn into real opportunities. In your first 90 days, you'll ramp up on our products, our buyers and our outbound process. By the end of six months, you'll have completed the Emerging Talent Program and presented your ET Impact Project to Convey leaders. Strong performers have a clear path to Account Executive.
