Why AssemblyAI
AssemblyAI builds the best-in-class Voice AI models powering the next generation of voice applications. We have a lab, and we also power our own models in our own proprietary inference environment. Our models serve 500M+ inference calls monthly, and process nearly 2 million hours of audio daily. The Voice AI space is at an inflection point; we’re looking for the best talent we can find to join a rapidly scaling team that's defining the future of the industry.
We are one of the most capital-efficient AI companies on the planet - and are rapidly approaching $1M ARR per employee. We sit among the top 5 most revenue-dense teams within the fastest-growing AI companies today. We have thousands of customers building with us including the top startups and world-renowned enterprises, and are serving at tremendous scale: we process nearly 2 million hours of audio daily and handle more than 15 million API calls every day. This is a rare growth-stage opportunity where the business is proven, the revenue is durable, and the growth trajectory is steep and getting steeper. We have a super flat culture and expect our employees to be deeply intimate with the details at all levels.
If you've ever felt buried under layers of bureaucracy, starved of real ownership, or frustrated watching your work disappear into a slow-moving org, AssemblyAI is built differently. The company operates as a true meritocracy, with no heavy planning or approval processes and no gatekeeping on the tools or information you need. For anyone who genuinely cares about voice AI, not as a trend to chase, but as a technology to build, this is the place where the most interesting problems at the most interesting scale are being solved by a team small enough that you'll actually know everyone's name.
The Role
As a Senior BDR, you own the top of the funnel for our new business motion. You'll research and break into strategic accounts, run creative multi-channel outbound to engineering and product leaders, and generate the qualified pipeline our Account Executives close. Because our buyers are technical, this isn't spray-and-pray — you'll speak credibly about APIs, model accuracy, and where we beat the alternatives, and you'll earn meetings on substance.
This is a senior individual-contributor role. You'll take our hardest, highest-value accounts, operate with real autonomy, and help build the outbound playbook from the ground up as one of the first people in the seat.
What You'll Do
- Own outbound pipeline generation into a defined set of strategic accounts
- Break into accounts with sharp, personalized, multi-channel outreach — email, phone, social, and video — grounded in real account research, not templates
- Engage technical decision-makers (CTOs, VPs of Engineering, product leaders) and articulate why AssemblyAI wins on performance and developer experience
- Qualify opportunities and run clean, high-context handoffs to Account Executives
- Represent AssemblyAI at events and in the developer and voice AI communities
- Partner with Marketing and Sales on messaging, sequences, and account targeting — and feed what's working (and what isn't) back into the motion
- Help build the outbound playbook from the ground up, testing new channels and sequences as we scale
What You'll Need
- 1-3+ years in a BDR/SDR role, with a proven track record of generating qualified pipeline from cold outreach
- Comfort learning and speaking to technical concepts: APIs, model accuracy and latency tradeoffs, and competitive differentiation
- Genuine creativity and persistence in outbound — you find a way in when the obvious channels don't work
- Self-direction: you thrive with ownership and little process, and you set your own high bar
- Strong CRM and prospecting-tool fluency (Salesforce, and tools like Apollo, ZoomInfo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator)
- Experience selling technical products — API, infrastructure, developer tools, or AI/ML — to technical buyers is a plus
- While AssemblyAI is a remote-first company, this role is expected to be based in New York, full-time in the office and meeting with prospective customers in person.
